2007 Clemson Tigers Picks & Predictions
Didn’t the Tigers have it backwards last year? Usually, Clemson disappoints throughout most of the season, then pulls coach Tommy Bowden’s butt out of the fire with a big win or two at the end. But last year, the Tigers started out 7-1, then lost three of their last four regular season games, and then lost to an inferior Kentucky team in the Music City Bowl. CU is 60-38 in eight straight winning seasons under this Bowden. But the Tigers haven’t won the ACC since 1991. Last season they ranked 15th in 1-A in total offense, fifth in rushing, and 13th in total defense, and still managed to lose five games. This year the Tigers return 11 starters, seven on defense but only four on offense. Clemson lost starting QB Will Proctor, who will probably be replaced by unior Cullen Harper although incoming freshman Willy Korn will get a look. The Backfield is solid, and the defense will again be very good. Coach Bowden needs a breakthrough season, because another 7-5 campaign might mean the end for this regime.
