2007 Miami Hurricanes: Picks, Predictions & Odds
2007 Miami Hurricanes Picks & Predictions
You might think that despite stumbling to the program’s worst record in recent history last year, a 60-15 mark over the last six seasons might have benn enough to keep coach Larry Coker around. But there was more to that story that just wins and losses, and Coker is now gone, replaced by defensive coordinator and native son Randy Shannon. The defense was solid last year, ranking seventh overall in 1-A and fourth vs. the run. But Miami ranked 87th on total offense, and outside of wins over Florida A&M and Florida International, averaged a very pedestrian 14 points an outing. This season the Hurricanes return eight starters on each side of the ball. The defense will again be fine, and four return on the offensive line. But QB has been a problem for this team in recent seasons, and might be again this year. Senior Kyle Wright would seem to have the inside track for the starting position, but he’ll get competition from junior Kirby Freeman in camp. And the receiving corps is thin.
