2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers: Picks, Predictions & Odds
NCAA Football Picks August 20th, 20072007 Nebraska Cornhuskers Picks & Predictions
Nebraska won the Big 12 North last year, but lost Oklahoma in the conference title game and to Auburn in the Cotton Bowl. So while head coach Bill Callahan has had some success in Lincoln, the Huskers have yet to return to national title contender status. Nebraska ranked 14th in total offense last year and 56th in total defense, but that wasn’t enough to beat the Sooners, the Tigers, USC, Texas or even Oklahoma State. This year NU returns only five starters to each side of the ball. Senior transfer Sam Keller seems to have the inside track to replace the departed Zac Taylor at QB. but junior Joe Ganz may have something to say about that. Either way, Husker QBs will have a very solid receiving corps to work with, and most of the offensive line is back. And while the entire starting defensive line needs to be replaced, Nebraska features four seniors at LB. The Huskers still can’t count themselves among the nation’s elite teams, but they’re the favorites in a weak Big 12 North conference.
