2007 Texas Longhorns Picks & Predictions
After winning the national championship, and then losing what it did in talent, Texas was expected to struggle a bit last year. But the Longhorns got off to a 9-1 start, bringing dreams of a repeat to Austin. Unfortunately, UT then lost to Kansas State and Texas A&M, and had to settle for the Alamo Bowl. The offense rolled right along, ranking 22nd overall even with freshman Colt McCoy at QB. The defense also ranked 22nd, but just 99th vs the pass. This year Texas returns six starters on each side of the ball, including McCoy, a solid receiving corps, and all three starting LBs. The losses include three offensive linemen, both defensive ends adn three quarters of the defensive backfield. But the schedule is accommodating, and the Horns have plenty of talent, so they must be considered favorites in the Big 12 and national title contenders.
