2007 Virginia Tech Hokies: Picks, Predictions & Odds
NCAA Football Picks August 22nd, 20072007 Virginia Tech Hokies Picks & Predictions
Now in their 21st season under head coach Frank Beamer, the Hokies have become a consistent contender on the national stage. Last year, Tech had high hopes, which included a national championship run. But after winning their first four games, the Hokie lost back-to-back outings to Georgia Tech at home and at Boston College. Virginia Tech then rebounded to win its last six regular season games, but then collapsed in the second half of a loss to Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, a game the led 21-3 at the half. The offense, frankly, was a big disappointment last year, ranking 99th overall and 90th in rushing. But the defense led all of 1-a ball in total defense for the second straight season, and ranked 11th vs. the run. This season the Hokie return eight starters to each side of the ball, including the team’s leading passer, rusher, receiver, tackler, sacker and interceptor of a season ago.
