Wisconsin is a mere 3-point favorite at home over Michigan State, and this is clearly a soft line with the Spartans coming off back-to-back losses to Central Michigan and Notre Dame. The Badgers have been dominant at home. The Badgers have won 4 of their last 5 home games vs. Michigan State. After losing to the Spartans 24-25 on the road last year, you can bet this is a big revenge spot for Wisconsin players who have not forgotten that crushing defeat. The Badgers outrushed the Spartans 281-25 in that game, which are numbers that would usually lead to a Wisconsin victory. Expect similar ground numbers in 2009, only this time around it will be enough for Wisconsin to get their payback at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 0.5-3.0. The Badgers are 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. Everyone is all over the New Orleans Saints after they’ve put up 93 points in 2 games. As a result, this line has been inflated. Remember, the Bills could easily be 2-0 right now if it wasn’t for a Leodis McKelvin fumble that handed the Patriots the game in Week 1. But Buffalo responded nicely at home last week, taking a 17-0 lead over Tampa Bay and never looking back in a 33-20 victory. This Bills’ defense is much better than they get credit for, and this stop unit can make big plays to counter the Saints’ explosive offense. After last week’s win over Tampa Bay, Head coach Dick Jauron now owns a 15-3 ATS mark at home against non-conference teams. His Bills’ clubs are also 9-4 ATS in September, and 8-4 ATS as home dogs. The Saints were fortunate to play Detroit in Week 1 and an Eagles’ team without Donovan McNabb and a beat up defense in Week 2. This one won’t come as easy for Drew Brees and company as the oddsmakers are expecting. Take Buffalo and the points.

Baltimore +110 over Toronto:
Good opportunity for the Orioles to pick up a rare road win tonight as they wrap up a series in Toronto. Jeremy Guthrie will oppose Scott Richmond as both of these teams can’t wait for 2009 to end.

Gurthrie (10-15, 5.05) leads the league in losses, but has pitched much better of late. The Home Run ball has plagued him all season (30 allowed), but he looks like he’ll be set for a spot in the O’s rotation in 2010. Guthrie is 2-3 with a 3.16 ERA in his last starts, much better than his full season numbers.

On the other hand, Jays starter Scott Richmond (6-10, 5.31) started the year very well, but has simply been atrocious of late. He’s 0-3 with a 10.88 ERA in his last 5 starts. Richmond has allowed 28 runs on 36 hits in his last 22 innings pitched. These numbers have to make me wonder why Cito Gaston keeps running him out there every five days. He’s either tired or injured, and this will not give him any confidence headed into 2010.

Texas A&M will be the toughest opponent UAB has faced up until this point in the season and we are laying the points with A&M at home, knowing that they are 4-0 SU & ATS against Conference USA opponents. A&M improves to 3-0 on the year and covers the spread, as we find them at 12-1 ATS as favorites of 27 points or less against a non-conference opponent coming off a double-digit loss. I’m going with the Angels this afternoon not only has Kazmir owned the Yankees with a 1.47 ERA in his last 8 starts but he has pitched great for the Angels since coming over and has 9 of 10 quality starts in his last 10 overall. Yankees have their hands full with Burnett here who has not pitched well and especially during the day where he has a 5.79 ERA compared to his night 3.23 ERA at night. He gave up 4 ER in his last start vs. LAA and has a 4.83 ERA on the road. This is a pitching mis match as it goes right now and the Angels have the guy on the hill here today. Angels also play much better during the day and are scoring nearly a half run more during their day games than at night. Free Prediction: Pittsburgh Pirates +115
I’ll back the Pirates in the home dog role tonight. The Reds have won 6 straight in this matchup so you can expect the Bucs to be very hungry here. They’ll get an excellent chance to break their losing skid to the Reds as they face Homer Bailey, who has been one of the worst starters in the majors over the last couple seasons. The Reds are just 7-20 in Bailey’s last 27 starts and 1-6 in his last 7 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150. Plus, this is a classic revenge situation where I like to play against a starter who beat its opponent in a recent matchup. I expect the Bucs to make the necessary adjustments at the plate tonight. Hart has been at his best at home and he will also be looking for some revenge after losing to Bailey and the Reds the last time he faced them. The good news is the Reds are only 1-5 in their last 6 road games vs. a right-handed starter and 2-5 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. I’ll back the Bucs for 1 Unit showing solid value here.
