Oklahoma vs. Baylor Odds, Pick & Point Spread: October 10th 2009

Oklahoma vs. Baylor
Free Pick: Over 54 Points -110 odds

Oklahoma might just put up 54 points on their own Saturday to get the OVER for us. The Sooners are scoring 54.5 points/game at home this season so it’s certainly not out of the question. Baylor is also a very good offensive squad, scoring 36.2 points/game this season. So they’ll chip in enough points to get the OVER as well. Oklahoma has put up 49 and 52 points on Baylor in their last two meetings with the Bears, respectively. Both games went OVER the number as Baylor chipped in 17 and 21 points, respectively. Oklahoma is a PERFECT 9-0 OVER against conference opponents over the last 2 seasons. The Sooners are also 10-1 OVER when playing with 6 or less days rest over the last 2 seasons. Cash in with the OVER 54 points.

Houston Texans vs. Arizona Cardinals Odds, Pick & Point Spread: October 11th 2009

Houston Texans vs. Arizona Cardinals

Arizona has had a bye week to get ready for the Houston Texans Sunday and to get back on track this season. The Cardinals are uncharacteristically 0-2 at home this year with losses to the 49ers and Colts, teams that have combined to go 7-1 this season. So they will welcome this inconsistent Houston team to town Sunday in what will result in a Cardinals’ blowout. Arizona is 10-1 ATS vs. good passing teams averaging 7 or more passing yards/att. over the last 3 seasons. The Cardinals are 7-0 ATS versus poor defensive teams – allowing >=350 yards/game over the last 3 seasons. Arizona is 17-6 ATS in home games off a home loss since 1992. Conversely, Houston is 6-17 ATS off a home win since 1992. The Cardinals are the better team all around with a better defense, and a better offense that is averaging 274 passing yards/game. They have also played the tougher schedule, and with Arizona coming off a bye week look for them to come out sharp and hungry at home. There’s no way they lose 3 straight at home to start the season. Cash in with the Cardinals as the favorite.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans Odds, Pick & Point Spread: October 11th 2009

Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans

They say all things come around in the NFL, and I have banked on Tennessee the past couple of weeks only to find myself on the losing end. It is official, the Titans simply do have the horses this year to get it done. Losing Albert Hainsworth on defense totally disrupted their chemistry as evidenced by giving up 34, 24 and 37 points in the last 3 weeks on defense. Not a typical Jeff Fisher coached team by any stretch of the imgaination.

The Colts on the other hand are smoking hot with 13 straight regular season wins and Peyton Manning is on fire. His cast of recievers has changed, but as always, he makes any average WR better. His QB rating of 114 is one of the best in the NFL while his Titan counterpart Kerry Collins is back to his old form with paltry 68 rating with more interceptions than touchdowns. Bob Sanders is licking his chops about right now.

To add more misery for the Titans, they have injury issues at cornerback for this game asd well as linebacker issues, not a good sign of things to come when playing the high octane, highly productive Colts offense pounding out 29 points a game against a defense allowing 34 points a game.. The Colts defense in the last 3 games has given up only 16 ppg, and in a twist of fate for the Titans, they have allowed an average of 31.

Last year Indy came into Nashville and won 23-0 and while I think the offense of Tennessee will score some points here as they have shown some production on offense, they simply have shown no ability to stop anyone on the other side of the ball and will lose their 5th straight this Sunday.

NHL Betting: Phoenix Coyotes vs. Buffalo Sabres Odds & Pick: October 8th 2009

The Phoenix Coyotes may be bankrupt, but they are seeking a 3-0 start to the season, matching the best start in franchise history, when they visit the Buffalo Sabres tonight.

The Coyotes suffocating the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 last night, as Ilya Bryzgalov posted the shutout. Early indications are that Bryzgalov will get the start again tonight, but it may not matter who is in net if the Phoenix defense duplicates its effort of last night, when they held the high powered Penguins offense to only 24 shots on goal.

Speaking of defense, the Sabres opened the season by losing 2-1 in overtime vs. the Montreal Canadiens here last Saturday, and they have not played since. Remarkably, Buffalo held the Habs to just 17 shots on goal that game, even with the added time. Goaltender Ryan Miller is the likely starter again tonight, although, like Phoenix a repeat of their opening night defensive performance may make the goaltender moot.

Now the Sabres are potentially more explosive offensively, but the Coyotes seem determined to go into their home opener with a 3-0 mark, giving the disgruntled Arizona fans at least some reason to keep coming to the games.

Thus, we look for Phoenix to employ a similar game plan as last night, and while it is debatable as to whether or not that style will translate into a third straight win, all that checking and dumping should at least keep the scoring down.

Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Boston as they face Anaheim set to start at 9:35 EST – Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 137-67 making 52.7 units since 1997. Play on all teams with a money line of -100 to -150 where team’s hitters draw 4 walks or more/game on the season and after 2 straight wins by 4 runs or more. Here is a 2nd system that has gone 129-99 making 37 units since 2004. Play on road teams revenging a loss versus opponent as a home favorite and starting a well rested pitcher who is working on 5 or 6 days rest. Boston is a solid 25-9 (+12.9 Units) against the money line versus a mediocre bullpen whose WHIP is 1.450 to 1.550 this season; 37-6 (+27.7 Units) against the money line after 4 or more consecutive home games this season; 13-1 (+11.9 Units) against the money line after 7 or more consecutive home games this season. Lackey is just 1-7 (-11.0 Units) against the money line in home games after 3 or more consecutive wins over the last 3 seasons. Lackey limps badly into this playoff game sporting an 8.31 ERA and a 1.846 WHIP. Meanwhile Lester is coming off a gem throwing 6.3 innings allowing just 2 hits, 1 BB, and recording 7 K’s. Lester is one of the best starters in the AL and his curve and change are at times unhittable. He has allowed a 195 BA on the curve. What is remarkable is that he will throw the curve equally to LH as well as RH batters. LH pitchers are not known for throwing and challenging RH batters with pitches curving into their wheelhouse. He mixes in a solid change to RH batters that keeps them guessing. He also dominates LH batters by throwing the majority of pitches in the lower right corner (away) of the strike zone. Take Boston.

John Ryan is rolling big profits in ALL SPORTS. He is now 35-11 ATS in CFB extending back to his incredible15-1 ATS bowl run. He also won his 10* NLDS Titan on the Phillies bringing that playoff run to 16-5. Plus, 10-3 ATS in the NFL, and a remarkable 5-2 +5.73 units playing 7 straight dogs in the NHL.

Big game in the Big 12 tonight as two top 25 go at it in Columbia. Nebraska and Missouri are both challenging for their division title, for the right to take on Oklahoma or Texas in the Big 12 title game. Missouri was supposed to be in a rebuilding year, but have come out of the gate quickly in 2010. Nebraska has been great, and had it not been for a miracle touchdown by Virginia Tech with 10 seconds to go, they’d be undefeated. Good luck and enjoy!

Hockey Betting: Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers Odds & Pick: October 8th 2009

Visit Touthouse.com for more expert NHL hockey picks from John Ryan

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Edmonton as they host Calgary set to start at 9:30 EST. Supporting this graded play are a few HC angles. Note that Pat Quinn is a solid 174-146 against the money line (+40.3 Units) when playing against a team with a winning record in all games he has coached since 1996; 71-45 against the money line (+27.9 Units) when playing against a team with a winning record in the first half of the season in all games he has coached since 1996. Have to admit that I am not sure who or how they put the NHL schedule together, but this marks the second time that Calgary is visiting Edmonton. Nevertheless, the AiS shows an 88% probability that Edmonton will score 3 or more goals in this game. Note that Edmonton is a solid 22-1 making 16.8 units in games where they score 3 goals over the past 3 seasons. Take Edmonton.

This will be an exciting matchup featuring two of the AFC’s strongest opponents. I really like the UNDER in this one because both of these teams excel defensively. The Pats rank 9th in point s allowed (17.8) and 7th in yards (287.5). They are facing a Broncos’ offense that is averaging 19.8 points per game but have struggled to score against tougher defensive opponents. They scored a combined 50 points against Oakland and Cleveland but have only managed to score a combined 29 points against Cincinnati and Dallas. The Pats should not have a difficult time keeping Denver off the scoreboard. The Broncos statistically have the best defensive numbers in the league ranking 1st in points allowed (6.5) and 2nd in yards (239.8). Additionally, their defense has already forced 10 turnovers. A lot of critics believed that the Broncos were this successful mainly because their defense wasn’t really tested. Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan managed to raise a lot of eyebrows last week as Denver’s defense limited Dallas to only 10 points. Prior to that game the Cowboys were averaging 28.7 points per game. They will carry this momentum into Sunday’s matchup versus the Patriots. Expect this to be a hard fought defensive battle with neither team scoring more than 20 points.
