Free NBA Pick: Houston Rockets -1 (Dave Price)
The Nuggets are only 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and I expect this trend to continue as they meet a very hungry Houston team off back-to-back home losses tonight. The Rockets are a perfect 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS at home against Denver the last 3 seasons. It is also important to note that the Nuggets are 0-5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win. While Denver has been playing well, notice that 6 of its 7 straight wins have come at home. Expect a different story out on the road tonight against a hungry team that has had the Nuggets’ number. Take Houston.

Free NBA Pick: Jazz vs. Blazers Over 195.5 (Jim Feist)
The loss of Greg Oden has taken away Portland’s big defensive presence in the middle. The offense, though, is playing well, on a 12-4 run over the total. into town comes Utah, an uptempo offensive team ranked 8th in the NBA in scoring. Utah is on 6-2 run over the total. These teams have met once in a game that sailed over the total by double digits and this has the makings of an uptempo tilt, too. Play the Jazz/Blazers Over the total.

Free NBA Pick: Bulls vs. Thunder Under 195 (Jeff Alexander)
Right away you have to like the Under here when you consider that OKC is 11-2 Under in home games where the total is between 195 and 199.5 points over the last 2 seasons, and we are only seeing an average of 188.1 points in these games. Plus, the Thunder have played to the Under in 4 of their last 5 games and the Bulls are 13-8 to the Under on the road this season. The Thunder are also 20-8 Under in home games versus teams who are called for 21 or less fouls/game over the last 2 seasons, and we are only seeing an average of 191.2 points scored in these games. In other words, we don’t expect many points to be scored at the free throw line with the clock stopped tonight. Bet the Under.

I think it is becoming more and more clear that Massachusetts s8imply is not a good team. The Minutemen have lost five straight games including a blowout loss by 26 points at Baylor over the weekend. The Bears are from the Big XII and Massachusetts is from the much weaker Atlantic Ten but it is not doing much better within the conference as it is just 1-4 on the season. The lone conference win came against Fordham, one of the worst teams in the nation by just two points at home. Somehow, the Minutemen defeated Memphis earlier this season as the stars must have aligned that night as the other six wins have come against Division II Arkansas-Fort Smith as well as five Division I teams ranked 294th, 344th, 272nd, 220th and 309th. Massachusetts is just 1-7 in true road games with a win over Holy Cross back in December being the only win and it has been six straight losses since. St. Joseph’s is not having its best season either but that is helping in keeping this line down. The Hawks are 8-11 including 2-3 in the Atlantic Ten but they are riding a three-game winning streak that did include a quality win over Dayton so they are definitely coming together at the right time. St. Joe’s has been blasted on the road against quality teams including Rhode Island, Temple Siena, Minnesota, Cornell and Purdue. The difference here is that Massachusetts is not a quality team and this game is not on the road. The Hawks are 6-2 at home on the season and the numbers reflect that difference. The Hawks haven’t held many teams to under 70 points this year, but in the past three wins, they have done just that. In two of the wins, they’ve limited them to fewer than 60 points as Towson scored just 57 points while Dayton had 59. Massachusetts is 1-10 this season when scoring fewer than 70 points while the Hawks are 7-2 when holding the opposition to fewer than 70 points. Assist/turnover ratio is a big factor here as Massachusetts comes in with a pretty bad 0.88 ratio. On the road, that drops to 0.71 and the ratio variance in road games is -0.62. The Hawks have a ratio of 1.13 at home and have a ratio variance of +0.32 in their eight home contests. Another key factor, free throw shooting, is also a huge advantage for the Hawks. Massachusetts is 0-6 ATS in its last six games as an underdog of fewer than seven points while the Hawks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against teams with a losing record. 3* (748) St. Joseph’s Hawks

Neither the TCU Horned Grogs nor the Colorado State Rams have been lighting up the scoreboard lately, and we do not expect much to change in Fort Collins tonight.

If we throw out a non-lined game vs. Texas-Pan American, TCU is averaging juts 61.8 points in their last five games vs. Division I foes, which is only slightly worse than their season road average of 63.1 points. The Horned Frogs have played just two road games since New Years Day, and those games have produced just 110 and 129 points respectively.

TCU has been sloppy with the basketball, turning the ball over on 21.2 percent of their possessions according to Pomeroy, which ranks 192 in the country. Granted, they have a nice effective field goal percentage of 51.5 percent overall thanks to an excellent 52.3 percent success rate on two-point shots, but their offense slips noticeably on the road compared to at home,

Speaking of turning the ball over, the home standing Rams do so on 22.6 of their possessions, which ranks 259 out of 347 Division I schools. Furthermore, Colorado State is not a good inside shooting team, hitting on only 45.2 percent of their two-point attempts, which ranks 247 in the land. The only reason the Rams average 74.1 points at home is their 36.3 percent three-point shooting, but TCU ranks 78 in the country in three-point defenses at only 31.8 percent.

Finally, the Colorado State offense has slipped to 67.2 points per game over the last five games, and when we add that to the TCU five-game average, we get a projected total of 129 points here, four full points less than this posted total.

CBB Free Pick: TCU, Colorado State Under 133 (-110)

Florida State vs. Duke Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 27th 2010

Florida State Seminoles vs. Duke Blue Devils
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

Two of the top teams in the ACC crack skulls on Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium for a high-octane NCAA basketball betting battle. College basketball wagering fans won’t want to miss the clash between the Duke Blue Devils (16-3, 12-6 ATS) and the visiting Florida State Seminoles (15-4, 4-10 ATS). FSU is coming off of a tremendous victory against Georgia Tech that finished off the season sweep of the Jackets on Sunday afternoon. Duke stormed back with vengeance following its loss at NC State midweek with a dominant 60-47 ‘W’ at Littlejohn Coliseum against the Tigers.

Florida State only has one chance to win this game, and that’s going to come on the inside. C Solomon Alabi, F Chris Singleton, F Ryan Reid, and F Xavier Gibson are all going to play big minutes, and they’re all going to need to have a hand in slowing down the Blue Devils. Alabi is a particularly dominant force in the paint, as he is bringing in 6.7 rebounds and blocking almost three shots per game. Singleton is the team’s best all-around player and best NBA prospect. He is second on the team in scoring (11.1 points per game), first in rebounding (7.6 per game), third in assists (2.6 per game), first in steals (2.3 per game), and second in blocks (1.7 per game).

However, if the starting five for the Dookies are connecting from the outside, it’s probably lights out for Florida State one way or the other. The ACC’s top scoring team is led by three sharpshooters from beyond the arc. G Jon Scheyer, G Nolan Smith, and F Kyle Singler can all stroke it from downtown. Smith is particularly lethal, as he is shooting 50.8% from three-point range on the season. The three are combining to score almost 64% of the team’s points per game.

This is a rematch from last season’s ACC Championship game, a battle that was won by the Blue Devils 79-69. The Noles covered at Cameron Indoor just two weeks before in an 84-81 defeat that arguably helped propel them to their fantastic run through the ACC Tournament. FSU’s dominated the L/12 college basketball gambling affairs with the Dookies going 9-3 ATS.

Notre Dame vs. Villanova Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 27th 2010

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Villanova Wildcats
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

Big East betting action continues on Wednesday night in the City of Brotherly Love, where the Villanova Wildcats (18-1, 14-4 ATS) will put the top ATS mark in the land on the line against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (15-5, 7-6-1 ATS). The Cats clawed their way to an 81-71 victory at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon against St. John’s after trailing for the majority of the first half. Notre Dame held serve at home that same day with an 87-77 victory against DePaul.

HC Mike Brey once again will find himself on the hot seat at Notre Dame if he can’t figure out how to get the Fighting Irish into the NCAA Tournament. As of right now, the Irish probably haven’t done enough to get in the Field of 65, and it’s going to take a couple major conference victories to get the job done. C Luke Harangody is a beast on the inside, and he’s the only man who is going to have a chance of wearing down Villanova. The All-American is averaging 24.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, but he’ll need to do better than those numbers to lead the Irish to the upset on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats have yet to be defeated in Big East play this year, and they only have one loss to their credit in conference play against the college basketball betting lines to boot. This is a team that will fly up and down the court and do so with confidence behind its veteran leadership. G Scottie Reynolds can score 30 points on any given night to dominate a game, but what makes the Cats go is G Corey Fisher; he runs the point for HC Jay Wright’s fast-paced offense. Villanova is scoring 84.9 points per game coming into Wednesday’s NCAA basketball betting battle, the third best mark in the country.

The Irish are 5-2-1 ATS in their L/8 clashes with Villanova, but the Cats got the best of the rivalry in their lone meeting last season that saw them tally a 77-60 victory in South Bend. Notre Dame’s last trip to Philly was a memorable one, as it knocked off Villanova 90-80 in the middle of the ’07-’08 campaign.

Free Pick: Boston College +3 (JR O’Donnell)
Huge move from our camp as this is an ebb and flow play here tonight as the 11-9 overall & 7-9 ats Bc Eagles showed some heart & gained some confidence from last game’s 63-62 loss vs Vir Tech. #21 ranked Clemson 15-5 over all & 9-7 ats is so up and down and jr’s $$$$ will not be on the Tigers on the road. The Eagles will have a huge edge down low and they will bang around the Tigers inside. Huge edges from the charity stripe also 71% for the Eagles vs a poor 64% for the Tigers. The bettig public will blindly lay the 3.5 and we see this baby climbing during the day.. 70% Tigers vs 30% Eagles.. JUST LOOKS TO EASY TO PLAY THE TIGERS HERE !!! Heavy trends to the under boys and in this low scoring ball game, we will side with the better free throw and rebounding crew

Free Pick: Milwaukee Bucks +7.5 (Jim Feist)
Milwaukee is on a 3-3 SU, 5-1 ATS run, playing competitive basketball. They come off a 127-94 victory over the Timberwolves on Saturday night. Milwaukee rookie Brandon Jennings had 18 points and a career-high 13 assists with only one turnover. A veteran Dallas team is home after a grueling 5-game road trip, and has played 10 of the last 14 on the road. They are also on a 3-8 ATS run and the Bucks have enough young legs on offense to run right at the veteran Mavs. Play the Bucks.

Free Pick: Bucks vs. Mavericks Under 197.5 (Jeff Alexander)
System Play – Plays Under on any team (MILWAUKEE) after a huge blowout win by 30 or more against an opponent that led in its previous game by 15 or more points at the half, are 32-6 since 1996. This system is 17-3 the last 5 seasons, 15-1 the last 3 seasons, and a perfect 3-0 already this season. Bet the Under.
