Free Pick: St. Bonaventure +5 (Bob Wingerter)
Youth and lack of depth make Duquesne a shaky favorite. Their 60% free-throw shooting and very poor 25% 3-point shooting means they need to play better defense than they are capable of doing when three players are getting 79% to 87% of the maximum minutes possible. The Duquesne Dukes are ranked 238 for offensive field goal percentage shooting 41.6% while attempting 58.9 shots per game. The Dukes shooting percentages include 59.8% for free throw percentage and 24.5% for three point percentage so far this season. The St. Bonaventure Bonnies are ranked 29 for offensive field goal percentage shooting 47.9% while attempting 55.9 shots per game. The Bonnies shooting percentages include 65.2% for free throw percentage and 30.6% for three point percentage so far this season. TAKE ST BONAVENTURE PLUS HERE.

Free Pick: San Diego State +2 (Jack Jones)
Tough game here tonight but I see some small value with San Diego State. They haven’t lost a home game since last year against BYU on February 24th, a span of 14 contests. I think they will have a little revenge on their minds from that game, and will be keeping the pedal to the medal after blowing a 13-point halftime lead to the Cougars. This Aztecs team also knows that they can beat BYU, having done so in last year’s conference tournament. BYU hasn’t had to play any tough games in awhile, being listed as nearly 20 point favorites in their last three games. This will be a real test with a hostile environment against a capable squad, and with a comfortable two game conference lead so early into the season I don’t know if they are going to be able to get themselves up for it the way they should. Take the points here today.

Free NBA Picks & Basketball Predictions: January 23rd 2010

Below are free NBA Picks and basketball predictions for January 23rd 2010 from Touthouse.com handicappers. If you are looking for free NBA basketball picks on a daily basis or premium picks from our NBA basketball betting experts visit Touthouse.com each day.

Free NBA Pick: Sacramento Kings +7 (Jeff Alexander)
This is the last game of the Kings’ 6-game road trip and they don’t want to come away empty handed. Expect them to fight like hell for a win tonight against a Miami team much more worried about its next game with Cleveland. The Heat are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games when playing without any rest and the Kings are an impressive 9-2-2 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. We’ll take the points for 1 Unit.

Free NBA Pick: Houston Rockets -6 (Jimmy Boyd)
Both of these teams played last night and picked up big wins, but I have to give the nod to the Rockets at home as the Bulls remain still very much unproven on the road at just 5-15 this season. Plus, the Bulls are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 0 days rest and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games when their starting 5 players combine for more than 160 minutes the previous day. The Rockets are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5 points. Take Houston.

Free NBA Pick: Magic vs. Bobcats Under 191 (Jim Feist)
Two of the top defensive teams in the NBA meet here: Orlando is 4th in field goal percentage shooting allowed, scrappy Charlotte is 6th overall. These teams are a on a combined 16-8 run under the total. January has not been a good month for Orlando as far as wins and losses and the main reason has been an erratic offense. Things don’t get easy for them in thi game against an attacking, aggressive Larry Brown coached defense. These teams have met twice this season with the losing team scoring an average of 82 points. Look for a defensive duel, play the Magic/Bobcats Under the total.

NCAA Basketball Betting: Utah vs. Air Force Odds & Pick: January 23rd 2010

Utah vs. Air Force
Free Pick: Air Force +15.0 (-110 odds)

Visit Touthouse.com for more NCAA basketball betting picks from LT Profits

The Air Force Falcons are 8-9 straight up this season despite facing a soft schedule, and they are usually offensively challenged, bur have the Utah Utes done enough to be favored by 15 points over anyone?

After all, this is a down year for the Utes, who are only 9-9 themselves while outscoring their Division I opponents by just a scant +1.9 points per game. Moreover, they have done a terrible job of protecting their home court, where they have always been so dominant in the past.

This season however, Utah is just 6-5 in Huntsman Center, and they lost to San Diego State here on Tuesday. They are outscoring their DI home opponents by an average of 7.6 points, but even that figure is only half of this inflated spread. Also, the Utah defense forces turnovers on only 18.4 percent of possessions, which ranks 293 out of 347 Division I teams. This means that Air Force should have little trouble running their deliberate offense and shortening the game.

Yes, the Falcons average a disgusting 48.2 points on the road, but because they have such a plodding offense, it is also hard for other teams to beat them by more than 15 points too, as it is almost impossible to get a running game going against them. Besides, Utah does not play that kind of fast tempo anyway.

Utah did win by exactly 15 points the last time the Falcons visited here last season, but that was a much stronger Utes team while Air Force has not changes that much. Thus, look for the Fly Boys to stay inside this 15-point spot.

CBB Free Pick: Air Force +15 (-110)

Expert College Basketball Picks: Wichita State vs. Drake: January 23rd 2010

Wichita State vs. Drake
Free Pick: Drake
Visit Touthouse.com for more expert college basketball picks from Matt Fargo

Wichita St. won a huge game last time out on Tuesday as it defeated Northern Iowa at home to snap the Panthers 15-game winning streak. That game was for everyone to see as it was nationally televised and that means the public will be all over the Shockers here. This is a solid team no doubt but it likely means their numbers will now be overvalued for the foreseeable future and that will include this game. A win like that was massive for the program and with that comes a letdown as they now hit the road. The Shockers remain perfect at home with a 12-0 record but they are 4-2 on the road with conference losses at Creighton and Illinois St. None of the four road victories are considered quality win with Missouri St. being solid but not overly impressive. After a 0-4 start in the MVC, Drake has won its last four games in the conference to even its record at 4-4. It was a tough start to the season for the Bulldogs as they were breaking in a lot of new players but it looks as though things are starting to come together. Playing with confidence is huge and Drake is certainly doing that now and probably at the best time as the toughest part of the schedule is coming up. It starts on Saturday and the Bulldogs will no doubt be out for revenge following a loss at Wichita St. this season by 23 points. The Bulldogs shot a season worse 23 percent from the floor including 2-22 from long range (9.1 percent) while gong just 8-13 from the free throw line. Nothing went right and that goes for All-MVC guard Josh Young you scored only nine points on 4-12 shooting. Overall, the Bulldogs have played the tougher schedule and have the advantages in two very key categories, free throw shooting (home/road) and assist/turnover ratio (both overall and home/road). This is a great spot to play a team on the rise going up against an opponent coming a really big home win. 3* Drake Bulldogs

Good NBA schedule on this Saturday, highlighted by another great matchup in Cleveland as Oklahoma City comes to town. This game features two of the best players in the league as Kevin Durant takes on LeBron James. Another good one in Denver with New Orleans will battle the Nuggets. Huge Saturday of action, with a host of good games on the menu. Early in the day, #3 Kansas will travel to Ames to take on a decent Iowa State club. KU should prevail and move back into the #2 slot next week. Current #2 Kentucky will host Arkansas at 4:00 Eastern. The Cats are poised to be the new #1 team in the country assuming they take care of the Hogs today. The best game of the night will be in the ACC as Duke travels a bit south to take on Clemson. These look like the two best teams in the ACC this year, and this one should be a terrific game. Good luck and enjoy.

Duke Blue Devils vs. Clemson Tigers Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 23rd 2010

Duke Blue Devils vs. Clemson Tigers
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

ACC rivals collide at Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday night in a battle against two teams that really don’t like one another. The Duke Blue Devils (15-3, 11-6 ATS) will crack skulls with the Clemson Tigers (15-4, 9-7 ATS) in a nationally televised NCAA basketball betting battle on ESPN. The Dookies have to be angry with themselves after losing 88-74 at the RBC Center against the Wolfpack on Wednesday night. It was their second straight road loss in conference on the season. Clemson struggled on the road as well during the week, as it lost to the Yellow Jackets 66-64.

The Blue Devils are one of the most prolific offensive teams in the nation. They are a fantastic shooting team both from the floor (47.1%), beyond the arc (39.1%), and at the free throw line (77.3%), #1 in the NCAAs). G Jon Scheyer is leading the way with 19.1 points per game, but the man that the Tigers need to be afraid of on Saturday night is G Nolan Smith, who is shooting a blistering 51% from the land of trey thus far. F Kyle Singler is the other major scorer for Coach K, as the junior is averaging 16.1 points per game.

Littlejohn Coliseum has been a house of horrors for the opposition of late. The Tigers have only lost there once this year, and that was in heartbreaking fashion to the Illini in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. F Trevor Booker is the key player for the boys in orange and purple. He is averaging 15.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He can dominate a largely undersized Duke squad on the inside. Clemson is going to have to do a better job at the foul line in order to beat a team this strong. The Tigers are only shooting 64.8% from the charity stripe as a team, and no one is shooting 80% on this squad from the line.

The L/2 meetings between these two teams have ended in blowouts. The Blue Devils took out the Tigers 74-53 at Cameron Indoor Stadium three weeks ago, but that was just some payback for the 74-47 beat down that was handed to Coach K’s club at Littlejohn last season. Clemson is 5-3 ATS over its L/8 NCAA basketball gambling duels with the Dookies.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Florida Gators Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 23rd 2010

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Florida Gators
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

Your Saturday night NCAA basketball betting action continues at 6:00 PM ET at the O’Connell Center in Gainesville, where the South Carolina Gamecocks (11-7, 6-9 ATS) face off with the Florida Gators (13-5, 7-6 ATS). Both of these teams are sitting squarely on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament and both could use a victory to boost their resume. The Cocks are struggling mightily right now, as they have dropped back-to-back games SU and three straight ATS. Florida has won two straight both SU and ATS and picked up a major 71-66 victory at Arkansas on Thursday night.

If the Gamecocks are going to compete in this game and get back in the discussion for the NCAAs, someone aside from G Devan Downey is going to have to step up and get the job done. Don’t take anything away from Downey, as he is averaging 21.2 points, 3.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game. However, there hasn’t been any other consistency from anyone else on this team. The defense hasn’t been fantastic either, as it is allowing 69.5 points per game on the season, which is a mediocre 203rd in the land.

When UF’s pressure defense is working, it can play with anyone in America. Look no further than wins against Michigan State and Florida State to prove that. However, when that defense isn’t on edge, HC Billy Donovan’s club just doesn’t have enough offensive firepower to keep up. All five starters are averaging double digits in scoring, but those five players are averaging 82% of the team’s scoring, which is one of the highest ratios for starters to bench players in the nation.

Last year, the home team took both NCAA basketball betting affairs between these SEC East rivals. Florida won 97-93 in Gainesville, but lost 70-69 in Columbia. The road team is 9-1-1 ATS in the L/11 clashes between the Gators and Gamecocks. Carolina has covered six straight at the O’Connell Center, but it only has one outright victory since 1999 there. However, it’s hard to fade the Gamecocks on the road, as they are a very long term 36-17-1 ATS squad in their L/54 as a visitor.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Cyclones Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 23rd 2010

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Cyclones
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

Big XII betting action continues on Saturday afternoon, when one of the top teams in the land looks to avoid a conference landmine on the road where the Iowa State Cyclones (12-6, 8-7 ATS) will be looking to pull off the upset of the #3 team in the land, the Kansas Jayhawks (17-1, 7-7-1 ATS). Kansas survived a scare at Allen Fieldhouse from Baylor with an 81-75 victory on Wednesday night. The Cyclones have alternated wins and losses their L/6 games. Their most recent college basketball betting affair was a loss at Texas Tech, 78-71.

The Jayhawks certainly have one of the deepest teams in the country, and they can successfully play basketball with many different styles. HC Bill Self isn’t afraid to use a full-court press, a half court trap, an inside game, an outside game, or any other style the opposition is willing to throw his team’s way. And why not? Kansas boasts the fourth best offense in the country at 85.0 points per game, and it can also say that it is holding its foes to just 36.3% shooting from the field, good enough for #2 ranking in the country.

Less than two weeks ago, the Cyclones played their hearts out against the Longhorns, so they have proven that they can stick around with the big boys. However, at just 1-2 in conference and without a major non-conference victory, Iowa State has a lot of work to do in the Big XII to be considered for the NCAA Tournament. Fs Craig Brackins and Marquis Gilstrap both have to have monster days for ISU to stick around against the mighty Jayhawks. The duo is averaging a combined 31.1 points and 17.3 rebounds per game. No one else on the team is averaging more than 9.4 points or 3.7 boards per contest.

It’s hard to ever go against the Jayhawks. They are a whopping 33-16-2 ATS in their L/51 games overall and 18-6-2 ATS in their L/26 tries against Big XII opponents. Iowa State hasn’t beaten Rock Chalk since 2005. Since that point, Kansas has gone 5-2-1 against the NCAA basketball betting lines against the Cyclones. Last year, KU won 72-55 at home and 82-67 in Ames, going 1-0-1 ATS in the process.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Purdue Boilermakers Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 23rd 2010

Michigan Wolverines vs. Purdue Boilermakers
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

The Michigan Wolverines (10-8, 7-7 ATS) will look to put together a major NCAA Tournament resume-boosting effort on the road on Saturday when they pay a visit to the Purdue Boilermakers (15-3, 8-9-1 ATS) in Big Ten betting action. Even though Big Blue covered its fifth spread in its L/6 games at the Kohl Center on Wednesday night, its 54-48 loss to Wisconsin dropped it to just 3-3 SU in conference play. Purdue erased the memories of a three-game skid in Champagne on Tuesday with an 84-78 win against the Illini.

Defense is the name of the game for the Wolverines. They are content to slow you down and try to limit possessions. Opposing teams are shooting 42.8% from the floor against Michigan, but they are only scoring 62.0 points per game. Since December 19th, the Wolverines have only allowed one team to score more than 70 points against them (Indiana). On the offensive side of the court, keep an eye on G Manny Harris, who not only leads the team in scoring (19.2 points per game), but assists as well (4.3 per game). Michigan has one major problem, and that’s its three-point shooting. Only one player is shooting better than 40% from beyond the arc, and as a team, it is only connecting on 29.7% of its long range attempts.

Purdue isn’t a significantly better three-point shooting team, as it is only shooting 30.4% from downtown on the season as a team, but the Boilermakers are far more set up to control a game in the post than Michigan is. Their three leading scorers are all juniors that have played together for three seasons, and they’re largely accepted as one of the most dangerous triumvirates in the college basketball betting world. G E’Twaun Moore is averaging 17.4 points per game. Fs Robbie Hummel and JaJuan Johnson can both take over a game in the post, as they are both averaging right around seven boards per night.

The home team has been dominating in this series of late, winning nine of the L/10 clashes between these squads. The Boilermakers are 8-3 ATS in their L/11 cracks at the Wolverines, but Michigan won the most recent meeting in Ann Arbor 87-78.

North Carolina State vs. Maryland Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction: January 23rd 2010

North Carolina State Wolfpack vs. Maryland Terrapins
Pick: Click here for expert college basketball picks | Bet: Click here to bet on this game | Odds: Click here for current odds

A pair of teams on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament square off in College Park on Saturday night where the NC State Wolfpack (13-6, 10-6-1 ATS) will look to continue their hot run in ACC play against the Maryland Terrapins (12-5, 7-6 ATS). The Wolfpack pulled off of a shocker on Wednesday night, knocking off Duke 88-74 as 11.5-point home underdogs. Maryland essentially had a night off even though it was in action on Tuesday, beating hapless Longwood 106-55.

With wins against the Blue Devils and Seminoles over the L/2 weeks, the Wolfpack are certainly nothing to rest on. F Tracy Smith leads the team in shooting percentage (54.4%), scoring (17.0 points per game), and rebounding (8.6 per game), and he’s going to be the reason for the success or failure of NC State. The starting five has really started to click right now for the Wolfpack, as they are all coming off of double-digit point scoring games against the mighty Blue Devils.

If you’re talking about teams that have bi-polar qualities, the Terps have to be at the top of the list. Losses to William & Mary, Wisconsin, and Cincinnati aren’t anything to be proud about, but those wins against Florida State and at Boston College were both very impressive. G Greivis Vasquez is once again leading HC Gary Williams’ team in scoring at 17.9 points per game. This will most likely be the third straight year in which the senior has averaged at least 17 points per contest. Even though there isn’t one big time rebounding presence on the inside for Maryland, it ranks 30th in the nation on the glass at 36.2 boards per game.

Maryland has been the dominant team in this series over the L/3 years. Since 2007, the Terps are a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS against the Wolfpack. NC State hasn’t covered the basketball betting line against Maryland on the road since 2005. However, it’s riding a red hot 13-2-1 ATS run on the road that just cannot be ignored. The Terrapins have covered six straight against the ACC, but they are only 2-8 ATS in their L/10 home games against teams with winning road records.
