It is a week before Christmas and the NBA regular season has a long way to go, but there are a couple of teams that are in the midst of an impressive winning streak. Boston has won 13 straight games but is actually getting some competition in the Eastern Conference from Miami and its 12 game winning streak. These two teams were the preseason favorites to meet in the conference finals and are already creating some separation in the East. Over in the West, San Antonio’s strong start continues has it has strung together eight straight wins which is currently the longest active streak in the conference.

The Celtics ran their winning streak to 13 games with three more wins last week including a 118-116 win over New York, a 102-90 win over Atlanta, and a 99-88 win over Indiana. They are now 22-4 overall and seven games ahead of the Knicks in the Atlantic Division. Paul Pierce leads the way in scoring; averaging 18.5 points per game. Kevin Garnett leads the team in rebounds with 10 per game and is third in scoring; averaging 15.5 points per game.

Chicago has won seven of its last eight games to open up a 4 ½ game lead over the Pacers in the Central Division. The Bulls raised their record to 16-9 by pulling out a one-point 100-99 win over the LA Clippers on Sunday. Previously, they posted a pair of easy wins with a 92-73 romp over Indiana last Monday and a 110-93 victory over Toronto last Wednesday. Derrick Rose continues to lead the way; averaging 24.3 points per game.

It took longer than expected, but Miami finally finds itself atop the Southeast Division with an overall record of 21-8. The Heat has a 3 ½ game lead over Orlando and a four game lead over the Hawks. Last week, the big three helped their team run its winning streak to 12 with four more wins including 113-91 victory over New York on Friday and a 95-94 thriller over Washington on Saturday. LeBron James is averaging 24.5 points per game and Dwyane Wade is averaging 23.6.

Oklahoma City and Utah remain tied atop the Northwest Division in the Western Conference at 19-9. The Thunders’ five game winning streak came to an end on Sunday in a 113-110 loss to Phoenix, while the Jazz are coming off a 95-86 win over Milwaukee this past Saturday. Oklahoma City is led by Kevin Durant, who is averaging 27.4 points per game while Deron Williams leads Utah with an average of 22.5.

The LA Lakers have quietly put together a five game winning streak to take a seven game lead over the Suns in the Pacific Division. The 21-7 Lakers completed a very successful seven game road trip with a 93-81 win over Philadelphia on Friday night and a 120-110 win over Toronto on Sunday. Kobe Bryant leads the Lakers with 25.9 points per game with Pau Gasol adding another 19.8 points and a team-high 11.1 rebounds per game.

San Antonio continues to hold off Dallas in the Southwest Division by two games with a league-best record of 23-3. The Spurs kept their latest winning streak alive with a two-point 92-90 victory over the Buck this past Wednesday night and a one-point 113-112 win over Denver on Thursday. They extended it to eight games with a 112-106 win over Memphis on Saturday. Manu Ginobili is averaging 19.8 points per game and Tony Parker is averaging 17.9. Tim Duncan leads the team in rebounds with 9.5 per game.

Kansas City Chiefs (+3) vs. St. Louis Rams
I really think Matt Cassel is going to play this weekend for the Chiefs, and with him in the lineup the Chiefs are an absolute steal at +3. I actually even like Kansas City if Cassel can’t play, as I think the Rams are going to have a very tough time stopping the ground game of the Chiefs, as they don’t have near the talent on the defensive side that the Chargers do. Kansas City has absolutely dominated the NFC West this season, going a perfect 3-0, and are 17-6 ATS against NFC West division opponents since 1992, and are 32-17 ATS in road games after 1 or more consecutive losses since 1992. The Rams are just 28-47 ATS after a loss by 10 or more points since 1992, and only 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games in December.BET THE CHIEFS! -Steve Janus

Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers (-2.5)
The Panthers have really ran the ball well lately, and I don’t think there will be much the Cardinals can do to stop it. Arizona has allowed at least a 100 yards in each of their last five game. This will allow Jimmy Clausen to avoid making mistakes, because he wont have to throw the ball. Really like Carolina’s defense against the Cardinals offense in this one. The Cardinals are averaging just 13.5 points a game on the road this season, and have lost five straight away from home. The Cardinals rookie quarterback was carried by their running game last week, as he was just 15 of 37 for 146 yards! Carolina is 34-16 ATS versus poor rushing defenses – allowing >=130 rushing yards/game since 1992, and are 35-17 ATS vs. poor teams – outscored by 6+ points per game on the season since 1992. -Info Plays

Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans (-1)
Last season Tennessee started 1-7 and closed like gangbusters and this season they opened 5-2, but have now lost six straight and didn’t get a ‘cover’ until they scored on the final play against Indianapolis on the final play of the game after trailing by 21 points. The Houston Texans like the Titans staged a huge comeback on Monday against the Ravens also trailing by 21-0 before also tying the game with a two-point conversion to send the game into overtime. We all know what happened next and Houston had their hearts ripped-out. Titans rebound more likely…take TENNESSEE! -Chip Chirimbes

Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks Pick & Odds: December 19th 2010

Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks
Pick: Atlanta Falcons -6 -110 odds
Visit Touthouse.com for more expert NFL Picks from Joseph D’Amico

I know the Falcons are playing their 3rd straight road game. I also know they face division rival New Orleans next. But the NFCs best team is hot, hot, hot. They have won 7 in a row SU, going 6-1 ATS. They come off of two NFC South victories over Tampa Bay and Carolina. Matt Ryan has been superb with 22 TDs, just 8 INTs, and 3147 YP. Receivers Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez are shredding secondaries for a combined 1784 YR and 12 scores. They also have Michael Turner running the ball for five 100+ yard performances and 10 TDs in his L7 games. Seattle will most likely get back WRs Williams and Obomanu but lost wideout Deon Butler LW. The Seahawks are having trouble protecting their immobile QB Matt Hasselbeck. They have the 31st ranked running game, averaging a mere 84.8 YPG on the ground. Their defense is just as bad, giving up 33 or more points in 5 of their L7. The ‘Hawks have been blown out 7 times this season by a minimum of 17 points. Two of those beatings were at home against solid running teams. Sound familiar? The Falcons are 5-0 ATS their L5, 5-1 ATS their L6 road, and 9-2 ATS their L11 as a favorite of 3 ½-10 points. The Falcons soar. Take Atlanta.

Pick: South Carolina +18
I’m taking the points with South Carolina on Saturday. Ohio State definitely can put up the points with five players scoring in double figures including Jon Diebler, who made nine 3-pointers his last time out, freshman Jared Sullinger who already has a 40-point game and William Buford who recently scored his 1000th career point. However, South Carolina might be the toughest team the Buckeyes will have played this season which includes two road wins at Florida and Florida State. Gamecocks coach Darrin Horn lost four key players off last season’s squad, but led by freshman point guard Bruce Ellington (13.4 ppg and 44% from 3-point line), South Carolina has won six in a row with its only loss being at Michigan State. Also, the Carolina defense is holding opponents to only 38 percent field goal shooting and 65 points. All of which makes it difficult for Ohio State to cover this huge line. In addition, the Buckeyes are 0-4 ATS their last four home games. Grab the big points with South Carolina on Saturday. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer

Pick: St. Bonaventure -4.5
Which Ohio team has the better chance of winning today? The football team or the basketball team? The Bonnies host the Ohio Bobcats in the Reilly Center in Head Coach Mark Schmidt’s 100th game. Note that the Bonnies are 33-22 SU against current MAC teams and are 4-1 SU all-time vs. Ohio playing at home. St. Bonaventure is a balanced offensive team with solid defending skills. Five players on the team average double-digit scoring with Andrew Nicholson leading the way. Nicholson averages 18.6 points and 10 rebounds per game, while shooting 55% from the field. The team is allowing an impressively low 65 points per game and has given up over 70 points just twice this season. The Bonnies also average 38.8 rebounds per game, ranked 69th in the country. The Bonnies pride themselves on consistent defense and rebounding, two key ingredients to “pointspread success” on the hard-court. St. Bonaventure is coming off a tough loss to Niagara last Saturday by a score of 69-61. In the game following each of the Bonnies’ losses this season, the team has responded with a victory. After a loss at Canisius in the opener, the Bonnies responded two days later with a 77-64 win over Arkansas-Little Rock. After the team’s loss to Cleveland State, the Bonnies responded with a 76-74 victory over Buffalo. The point totals for St. Bonaventure in these ‘rebound’ games were the team’s highest of the season. Including those results, the Bonnies are 4-1 ATS the last five times that they were coming off an ATS loss in their last five games. Ohio is a fairly talented team but has struggled with consistency this season. The Bobcats beat up on St Francis-PA (a 2-8 team from the Northeastern Conf. which is now on a 0-6 SU/ATS run) last time out, winning by a score of 87-58. The Bobcats haven’t won twice in a row in weeks though and they’re just . Coming off a win this season, Ohio averages just 59.6 PPG. They are ranked 280th in the country in field goal percentage, shooting just 40.7% from the field and currently have just one player who averages double-digit scoring. With the line having dropped slightly from its opener, consider laying the points with the home team. -Ben Burns

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins Pick & Odds: December 19th 2010

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
Pick: Buffalo Bills +5.5 -110 odds
Visit Touthouse.com for more expert NFL picks from Ray Monohan

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most consistent teams against the spread in the last month and we’ll bank on that to continue. Really, in this AFC East rivalry, we are banking on two trends: the Bills to keep up their torrid pace ATS since their bye week and the Miami Dolphins to continue their home-away trends. The Bills have covered against the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, while pushing against the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions in their last eight games. Aside from their blowout loss in Minnesota, their margin of defeat is three points per game. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 7-6 overall but are just 1-5 in home games. They have played significantly better away from home (6-1) than in their own backyard. Throw in the fact that the Dolphins are 0-7 against the spread in their last seven as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points and you have a good value play with the Bills.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers Pick & Odds: December 17th 2010

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Pick: Los Angeles Lakers -5.5 -110 odds
Visit Touthouse.com for more expert NBA picks from John Ryan

5* graded play on the Lakers as they take on the Philadelphia 76ers set to start 7:00 PM ET. My proprietary sports handicapping model and simulator shows a high probability that the Lakers will win this game by five or more points. Supporting this graded play is a system that has produced a record of 62-30 ATS for 67.4% winners since 1996. Play on favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points that are very good teams outscoring opponents by >=+7 points per game and is now facing an average team posting a scoring differential of +/- 3 points per game and after leading their last three games by five+ points at the half. 41% of these games have covered the spread by seven or more points. Lakers rank fourth in offensive scoring at 106.4 points per game. Philadelphia is just 13-28 ATS in home games versus good offensive teams scoring 99+ points per game over the last three seasons. Just looking at the ‘flash’ stats and record you can easily see why this is a monumental mismatch. Lakers are 19-7 overall and in first place in the Pacific division. They have posted a 6-1 division record and rank third in the conference and have an 11-5 conference record. The 76ers are just 10-15 overall and in third place in the Atlantic division and have posted a 3-3 mark against divisional opponents. This is arguably the weakest division in the NBA. They rank ninth in the conference and have posted a losing 7-12 conference record. The 76ers have no answer for Pau Gasol and I expect him to have a 25+ point game. Moreover, the 76ers cannot matchup and defend both Gasol and Lamar Odem, who is averaging 15.7 points per game. When the 76ers double team or collapse the defense into the paint it will open up high percentage perimeter shots that the Lakers are knocking down. Take the Lakers.
