2012 Colorado State Rams Predictions
Odds to win BCS Championship: 12-1 (Field)
(2011: 3-9 SU, 4-8 ATS). Ret. starters: (Off: 7, Def: 8).
The Rams returns 15 starters from a another 3-9 team. New coach Jim McElwain, who was the offensive coordinator at Alabama, takes over. He does have some talent led by Chris Nwokie (6-0, 213), who ran for 1,130yds with 9 TDs last year. The offensive line is a major issue. They’ll have to block for Garrett Grayson (542ys, 2, 6) or redshirt freshman Conner Smith (6-5, 220). Last year’s starter, Pete Thomas (1607yds, 7, 8) transferred to NC State. TE Crockett Gilmore (45 for 468yds) is the top returning receiver. On defense, they lost two key starters I LB Mike Orapko (89tckls) and DE Nordly Capi (10sacks), who were expelled from school after a fight with other Colorado State students. Junior LB Shaquil Barrett (6-2, 250) is back after leading the team in tackles with 99 along with James Skelton (91 tackles)
