(2011: 8-5 SU, 3-9 ATS). Ret. starters: (Off: 5, Def: 7).
The Cowboys are coming off an 8-5 season led by MW freshman of the year QB Brett Smith (2,622yds, 20, 11), who also led the team in rushing with 710yds and 10 TDs. Chris McNeill (42 for 504yds) led the team in receiving. The defense will be an issue as they lost four all-conference players last season. DEs Josh Biezuns and Gabe Knapton combined for 144 tackles last year and they are gone. Senior SS Luke Ruff (102tckls) is the top returning tackler. WLB Korey Jones (59tckls, 4 sacks) will have to provide more pass rush along with juco transfer DE Dustin Bernthaler (6-2, 245).
