NBA Basketball Picks: February 29th 2012

Both teams are coming in on a back-to-back in this one, so we think there is a great chance that defense is lacking. At the original line this would have been a strong member’s play for us but the sharps zapped some of the value out of the overnight line which came out at 181. We do still think there is some value here and we will be betting one unit on this game. Milwaukee is a team that likes to push the pace at times. We think they will do this against Boston and we know the Bucks do not want to get into a half-court grinder with Boston. The Celtics have stated their desire to increase their pace after the all-star break and this is a good team to employ that strategy against. This Milwaukee team has allowed 100 PPG in their last five and four out of their last nine opponents have scored 110 or more. While Boston is not going to put up 110 on anybody, there is a great chance they can get close to the century mark and that would be what we would need to cash this ticket. While Boston is one of the best defensive teams in the league they have not been their normal selves lately and they allowed a ton of points to OKC before the all-star break and also they let Detroit, one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA, have their way with them in two meetings before the break. The over is 9-2 in the Bucks last 11 as listed underdogs and we think that is the way this one goes tonight as well.

The city of Sacramento is buzzing right now. The city, the Sacramento Kings and the NBA announced a tentative deal Monday to finance a new arena that would keep the team in California’s capital for the long haul.

There’s no question these players want to put on a show in front of what will be a very rowdy home crowd tonight in support of their Kings. It should be a great atmosphere, and I look for underrated Sacramento to come away with a 4-plus point home victory tonight.

Utah played a very easy schedule in the early going, but their true colors have shown of late once their schedule got a little tougher. The Jazz have lost eight of their last 10 games, and one of their two wins came at home against the lowly Washington Wizards.

The Kings have played an absolutely brutal schedule in the first half. Sacramento has played 21 road games compared to just 12 home games. Indiana is definitely worth a look as a 3-point home underdog against red-hot Michigan St. There is no denying the Hoosiers play their best basketball at home. They are 16-1 at Assembly Hall. The bigger the opponent the better Indiana seems to play at home, as they stunned a couple of highly-ranked teams in Kentucky and Ohio State.
