San Diego Chargers vs. Denver Brocos Free Pick – Monday Night Football: Christmas Eve, December 24th

The only game in town Monday night will serve up a little AFC West action when the Denver Broncos invade San Diego to take on the Chargers. San Diego opened as 7.5-point home favorites with the ‘Total’ set at 46. The public has already sided with the Chargers in this spot, increasing the spread to 8.5-points, and they also foresee a higher scoring game since the ‘Total’ has been bet up now currently sitting at 47-47.5.

The Broncos failed in last weeks bid to stay alive for post-season consideration when they got pummeled in Houston by a 31-13 final count. The loss ended the Broncos bid to get to the playoffs, and that makes it two years in a row that the Shanahan led Broncos will be on the outside looking in.

Needing to win their final two games to secure the No. 3 spot in the AFC playoffs and the chance to avoid New England until the conference championship game, the Chargers go for their fifth straight victory when they host the Broncos on Monday night. Last week saw them simply annihilate a poor traveling Detroit Lions club to the tune of a 51-14 beatdown. They covered the 10-point spread with ease, and will no doubt look to do the same against the division rival Broncos.

These teams first met this season when neither club was playing that great. Denver was looking to get back on track at home after losing two straight to even up their record at 2-2. San Diego entered Mile High on a three-game losing streak after beating Chicago 14-3 in Week 1. The Chargers got off to a furious start that saw them lead the home team 20-3 at the break, and they cruised in the second half ultimately winning by a 41-3 final count.

The Chargers have taken three in a row both SU and ATS vs. the Broncos, but should get a stiff challenge from them tonight since it’s not very likely a Shanahan coached team will lie down with their season already over; especially against a divisional opponent. Tune to ESPN at 8:00 ET for a game that should be a lot more competitive than most people think…..
