It’s Lebron vs. D-Wade, Part 2 tonight as the Heat visit the Cavs.
Earlier this week Wade had 41 points while King James scored 42 points in the Cavs 107-100 victory over the Heat. Miami’s task will be daunting as they try to hand Cleveland just it’s second home loss of the year.
The Cavs are 2-1 SU against the Heat this season but the South Beach club is 2-1 in the money department. All three games have been decided by fewer than ten points.
Cleveland has the best home record in the league at 27-1 with their only loss coming against the Lakers in early February. Their ATS mark is an eye popping 22-6 compared to Miami’s 13-14-1 mark vs. the number
Cleveland has also won nine of 11 overall, but are coming off an 11-point loss in Boston last night. It’s worth noting that the Cavs have lost back-to-back games just once this season. I also don’t expect Lebron James to shoot 5 for 15 from the field as he did in Beantown.
Cleveland has lost consecutive games only once this season, falling at home to the Lakers and at Indiana on Feb. 8 and 10. The Cavs have won eight of their last 10 home games against the Heat.
Cleveland can’t be at all happy with their performance on Friday night and I look for them to take it out on a Miami team that also played last night. Lebron simply won’t let his team lose two straight and especially at home.
Look for the Cavs to pull away in the second half for an impressive win and cover.
Free NBA Pick: Boston Celtics -6.0 (-110)

I know Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but still I wax poetic: ?How Many Ways Do I Love Thee. In this case, replace the thee with the Boston Celtics and that sums up how I feel about this Boston play tonight.
New Jersey played last night and were pushed to the limit by the Milwaukee Bucks. Vince Carter, Devon Harris and Brook Lopez each played over 35 minutes while Keyon Dooling and Jarvis Hayes, each played extended minutes. Back-to-Backs in the NBA are never easy but in this case, the Nets are at a huge disadvantage as they go against the Celtics..
Boston carries a pair of noticeable trends into tonights game. They’re 9-2 ATS when playing on two days rest and are 8-1 ATS after allowing more than 105 points in the previous game. The Celts are also 6-2 vs. the number in their last eight road games. Boston has beaten New Jersey eight straight times and is 5-0 both SU and ATS in their last five games against NJ.
In the first two series meetings, the Celtics won convincingly by scores of 105-85 and 118-86.
The Nets are fighting for a playoff spot and getting the Celts in this spot won’t help. Given the one sided nature of the series I’m siding with Boston. I smell trap but I’m with the Celtics just the same.
NBA Betting Pick: Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Bobcats o192.5
Tue Mar 3 ’09 7:05p
There is no denying the brilliant coaching job Larry Brown has done in Charlotte. His experience coupled with a couple of bold moves by the front office, has the Bobcats positioned to make a run at the post-season. Tonight Charlotte will enjoy some home cooking as they look to build on a three-game road winning streak.
Charlotte hasn’t won four straight since last season. Tonight they can kill two birds with one stone as they take on the Chicago Bulls, a team that they’re chasing in the East.
On their recent roadie, the ‘Cats got bloodied up by two of the Western Conference “big boys” Phoenix and Houston, but rebounded nicely to close the trip with three straight wins.
In there first meeting of the year, Charlotte and Chicago eclipsed the total of 188 with the Bobcats winning in overtime 110-101. Much has changed since that December meeting. Charlotte has reloaded with veterans Boris Diaw and Raja Bell. Those two combed with Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor gives them four great scoring options. Vladimir Radmonavich, who came over from the Lakers prior to the trade deadline is another big time threat, especially from three-point land.
Chicago is expected to have Luol Deng back tonight and I don’t expect Derek Rose to suffer another 3 of 16 shooting performance like he did in the first meeting.
The Bulls are 7-3 to the high side in their last ten outings while the Bobcats have topped the total in their last two games, both victories. – Courtesy of Bob Harvey
Free NBA Pick: Denver Nuggets +3.5
Tue Mar 3 ’09 7:35p
The Denver Nuggets Chauncey Billups returns to Motown venue, that was previously his home before a shocking early season trade sent him packing to the Rocky Mountains. Billups is one of the all time fan favorites to ever suit up in a Pistons uniform, as is evident on Motor City Hoops blogs and boards. Look for a huge ovation by the Motor City faithful, and for Billups to feed off of this and lead his team to a big time performance.
Here is a quote: “I’m sure it will be emotional,” Billups said. “I had a lot of great years there. I’m sure it’s always going to be my home away from home. It will be pretty emotional, but it will be a lot of fun.”
With the home town Pistons off an emotional back to back road wins, against the Orlando Magic and the defending NBA champion, Boston Celtics last time out, a let down performance tonight could easily be on the agenda.
I know the Nuggets have lost 11 straight trips SU to Auburn Hills, but that was than and this is now. With the Nuggets , getting points , I look for the road team to move to 5-1 ATS in the L/6 overall meetings and for the Pistons to move to 0-6 ATS in their L/6 at home vs a winning opponent.

Free Pick: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Sacramento Kings o200.0
NBA Betting Picks: Wednesday February 25th ’09 10:05p
The Charlotte Bobcats have not won on the road in a month, thanks to the lowest scoring offense in the league , but will be primed to tear up the score board in this spot, vs a Sacramento team with the worst record in the NBA. The Kings main problems can be attributed to an atrocious defense, that has allowed 19 of their L20 opponents to pound them for 100 points or more for a 115.9 PPG average during that span. The Kings only saving grace this season, has been an offense that has been able to average 101+ PPG on their own home floor at Arco, which has contributed to both themselves and their opponents combining to put 208.9 PPG on the score board.
With that said, look for Charlotte to come out here with all guns blazing , as they attempt to break out of their current road funk, and for Sacramento to reciprocate with some offensive fireworks of their own, in a contest I am betting will eclipse the number. It must be noted that these teams have gone Over in 5 of their last 6 meetings.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder o222.5 – Tue Feb 24 ’09 8:05p
This will be another Lakers win. The mystery lies in the final score which should be a doozy given the offensive and defensive numbers presented to us tonight. The Lakers are 34-21-1 to the over this season. On the road they’ve got a 15-10-1 mark to the high side. In the 223-228 totals range, Kobe and company are 2-0 in the past ten games. There’s no wonder given that the Lake Show is averaging nearly 109 points per game. Their opponent tonight, the Oklahoma City Thunder, is allowing over 104 points per game. The Lakers are 10-1-1 to the OVER in their last 12 road games and have topped the total to the tune of 7-2-1 in their last ten games in the role of the favorite. When the Lakers take a night off defensively it usually makes the under a very solid value. LA can’t keep up the intensity every night, especially playing against a team like the Thunder. They showed signs of a letdown against Minnesota on Sunday and the same thing could happen tonight. Coming off their mediocre performance against Minnesota, I expect a better effort tonight from Phil Jackson’s club. I also think the Kobe and Kevin Durant showdown could produce more than a few points as well. – Courtesy of Bob Harvey
Oklahoma City Thunder +8.5 (-110) – Tue Feb 24 ’09 8:05p
We have been praising the Oklahoma City Thunder as money-making machines for most of this season, especially at home, and we feel that they will pass the acid test on Tuesday by staying inside the number vs. the team with the best record in basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers. Now the Thunder will have the obvious emotional edge here, as they would love to knock off the Lakers in front of their home fans while the Lakers will in all likelihood take Oklahoma City lightly. However, is that enough for a team with a 13-43 record to give the Lakers a hard time? Well, the Thunder may not be having much success on the court, but their supporters have not minded one bit as Oklahoma City has the third best record in the NBA against the spread at 34-21-1, 61.8 percent. Furthermore, that does not tell the whole story as they have been a virtual ATM machine at home lately, going an unbelievable 14-2 ATS (9-7 straight up) in their last 16 home games! Moreover, one of those two ATS losses was a straight up win over the Sacramento Kings in a rare favorite role. They are winning their home contests during this 16-game stretch by an average of +3.2 points. Now the Lakers are obviously a dangerous club, but that is no secret as they are usually overvalued by the oddsmakers. As a result, Showtime is a modest 29-27 ATS this season despite owning a scintillating 46-10 SU record. The Lakers are also winning their road games by an average of +6.9 points per game, which would not be good enough to cover this spot. Finally, remember that the Thunder only lost to the Lakers by seven points in Los Angeles two weeks ago, and we look for the red-hot Kevin Durant to keep Oklahoma City in this game right until the finish once again. New Orleans Hornets vs. Sacramento Kings
Free Pick: New Orleans Hornets -7.5 (-110) – Mon Feb 23 ’09 10:05p – Click Here for NBA odds
Visit Touthouse.com for more NBA basketball betting picks
Now, we are not normally fans of laying this many points on the road, but we expect the New Orleans Hornets to bring their best effort tonight, which should be too much for the 12-45 Sacramento Kings to overcome.
You see, the Hornets began this three-game Western road trip with a couple of losses, the first in overtime to the best team in the West (Los Angeles Lakers) and the second the next night vs. a great home team (Utah Jazz). They do not want to go winless on this trip, so we look for them to take it to the lowly Kings here, especially since Sacramento has actually covered the first two head-to-head meetings with the Bees this season including an outright upset at New Orleans.
The Kings have the worst record in the NBA, and they have not really improved much as the season has gone on. They are 2-8 straight up in their last 10 games, and the two wins were vs. a couple of other last-place teams in the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies. Furthermore, while Sacramento has always played better at home, this has not been evident this season as they are just 8-18 here at Arco.
Look for the Hornets to take out their frustrations on an outclassed Kings team here, resulting in a handy double-digit victory.

I don’t think people realize how bad the Detroit Pistons have gotten. This is the epitome of a ‘bet against’ team these days; loaded with veteran superstars that know full well this team isn’t going anywhere. In fact, after six straight trips to the Eastern Conference Finals, Detroit is looking more and more like a lottery bound ballclub, not a playoff team. The names are still there – Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton, Tayshawn Prince, Allen Iverson – but the confidence and desire have waned rapidly.
The Pistons are 5-15 SU in their last 20 ballgames. Three of the five wins came against teams that are more than ten games under .500 right now. A fourth came in overtime against a Bucks team that had just lost their team leader in points, assists, steals, blocks and rebounds in the previous two weeks. Their last road game against a team with a winning record was a 17 point loss at Utah. The Pistons have lost their mojo completely, and they know it. First year, first time head coach Michael Curry knows it. This is a lottery team playing out the string before they can blow up the team; not a competitive squad fighting for playoff positioning.
The betting marketplace hasn’t realized that fact just yet. And the Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t going to take the Pistons lightly either. The Cavs want to dominate this division. They want to send a message to a team that has been dominant in the playoffs for the last six years. And they want to get back on track against a quality foe at home, following their embarrassing national TV loss to the Lakers at home just before the All Star break.
The Pistons lost at home to the Cavs by ten earlier this month, despite committing only nine turnovers and watching Cleveland connect on only 62% from the free throw line. The pointspread here won’t be as short this time around, but I expect the result to be even more lopsided. After losing 15 out of 20 the Pistons upcoming road trip (at Cleveland, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando and Boston) against five playoff bound foes has the potential to be very, very ugly for a bad team that has completely lost their confidence and their desire to compete.

NBA Basketball Betting: Oklahoma City vs. Phoenix

Visit Touthouse.com for more NBA basketball betting picks and NBA odds
To the casual observer, this matchup between the 30-23 Phoenix Suns and the 13-41 Oklahoma City Thunder may seem like a Phoenix blowout at first glance.
However, the truth of the matter is that despite their record, the Thunder have actually been one of the best investments in the NBA this season with a 34-20, 63.0 percent record against the spread. Also, do not be scared off by their 3-22 straight up record on the road either, as they are still 16-9, 64.0 percent when traveling.
Conversely, the Suns have been considerably worse ATS than their SU record, going just 19-31-2 vs. the number. Yes, they have had back-to-back 140-point games since the coaching change, but keep in mind that both of those games came against the lowly Los Angeles Clippers. They figure to get much more resistance from this pesky Oklahoma City team that has played hard all year.
The Thunder are already 2-0 ATS in their head-to-head meetings with the Suns this season, and we look for them to make it a hat trick here.
