Two teams sliding in ACC play hook up in a critical NCAA basketball betting battle when the Boston College Eagles (11-9, 7-9 ATS) welcome the Clemson Tigers (15-5, 9-8 ATS) to Chestnut Hill. The Tigers have already lost three ACC games this year, with the most recent two coming this past week. Clemson’s 60-47 loss to Duke on Saturday marked its first ‘L’ at home on the conference docket. The Eagles aren’t doing any better in conference play, as they’re a dismal 1-4 in conference play. However, the team is coming off of two inspiring road efforts, a 79-75 win at Miami and a narrow 63-62 defeat at Virginia Tech.

Clemson badly needs to get some more production from its role players. F Trevor Booker, G Demontez Stitt, and G Tanner Smith are all doing their parts, averaging a combined 37.3 points per game. But in spite of the fact that a host of bench players are playing significant minutes, their production hasn’t been encouraging. Someone else is going to have to really help contribute on the inside to help out Booker, who leads the team in both scoring (15.9 points per game) and rebounding (8.2 boards per game).

Part of the reason that Boston College is 1-4 in conference is because it has only played one ACC game at home. The Eagles are a tremendous rebounding team, as they average 6.6 rebounds per game more than their opposition; they may be able to capitalize on the glass against a relatively undersized Clemson team. F Joe Trapani leads the way with 14.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, but both G Reggie Jackson and F Corey Raji are averaging at least six boards per game as well.

This is the second clash of the season between these teams. Clemson took out the Eagles 72-56 back on January 9th. That shouldn’t be considered anything new when factoring in the history of these two teams. Since BC moved over to the ACC from the Big East, it is only 3-6 SU against the Tigers. However, the more alarming stat is that HC Oliver Purnell’s club is a perfect 9-0 ATS against the Eagles.
