Cowboys vs. Texans Point Spread: Week 3 NFL Picks: September 26th 2010

DALLAS COWBOYS VS. HOUSTON TEXANS

NFL betting action brings you the “Battle of Texas” on Sunday, September 26th at 1:00 ET when the Houston Texans host the in-state rival Dallas Cowboys. Last week the Cowboys suffered a shocking loss to the Bears 27-20 as seven-point favorites moving them to 0-2 to start the season, while Houston won a come from behind OT thriller 30-27 as 3-point road favorites.

Point Spread: Oddsmakers have the Texans currently listed as 3-point favorites yet again in Week 3, with the game ‘total’ set at 47.5.

Dallas stumbles into Week 3 after not reaching expectations thus far this season. QB Tony Romo did his part last week leading the 2nd ranked passing attack throwing for 374 yards with one TD, but got picked twice. The ground game has been non-existent to date! It ranks 29th in the NFL through the first two weeks, only managing to gain 36 yards from the line of scrimmage against the Bears defense last week. They converted 23 first downs and went 6-of-13 on third down. The defense recorded just one sack while allowing over 300 yards of offense.

The Houston Texans are on Fire! Matt Schaub threw for 497 yards and three TD’s in the Texans stunning come from behind win at Washington last week. The ground game had a breather after a huge first week, but who needs a ground game when a team can have that impressive of a passing attack. Schaub and company converted 29 first downs and went 6-of-14 on third down. They controlled the clock by nearly 40 minutes, but the defense gave up 420+ yards.

This game is sure to be a shootout with the Cowboys #2 passing offense going up against the Texans #32 pass defense and the Texans #1 rushing attack vs. the Cowboys #28 rush defense. The Cowboys have covered just five of their L/16 road games, but stand 2-0 SU & ATS after absorbing back-to-back losses the L/2 seasons. Houston’s 10-3 SU & 7-4 ATS in games involving a pointspread of -3 to +3 since 2008.
