The Detroit Red Wings allowed the fewest goals in the NHL last season, and the Detroit Under is off to a 2-0 start this season. Look for the Wings to suffocate what has been a good Carolina Hurricanes offense tonight, en route to another Under.

Chris Osgood is now the man in net in Detroit following the retirement of Dominik Hasek in the off season, and we feel that he will prosper now that he is no longer sharing time. Off course, it also helps that he does not face as many shots as other goaltenders, thanks to the very experienced but still great Red Wings defensemen.

Yes, the Hurricanes have scored 10 goals in two games, but that is because they were able to skate free vs. the defenseless Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers. This will not be the case tonight, and we see Carolina getting easily frustrated by the physical play of the Wings here.

Besides, the last thing Detroit wants to do is get caught up in the end-to-end style that the Hurricanes like so much, especially in Carolina, and we look for the more experienced Red Wings to win the tempo battle and turn this into a tight-checking affair.
