Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox
Prediction: Boston Red Sox -123 odds (May 30th 2012)

Doc’s Sports MLB FREE PLAY FOR MAY 30TH 2012: Take #976 Boston over Detroit (7:10pm est): The Detroit Tigers have looked completely overmatched so far in the first two games here in this series. This overrated group has cost their backers almost 13 units already in the young 2012 season and have shown no indication of snapping out of it or playing up to the levels so many think this team is at.

After being easily beat with their ace Justin Verlander on the hill, the Tigers now send out rookie Drew Smyly in this one. The shine looks like it is starting wear a bit off Smyly these days as he comes in with a 6.75 ERA in his last three starts overall. The Tigers offense has shown some life of late but a lot of that has more to do with the weak cast of starters they have faced recently. Take a look at the last nine guys that have started against Detroit and see what I mean: Bard, Doubront, Walters, Pavano, Swarzak, Masterson, Mcallister, Jimenez, Correia. Despite going up against zero ace type guys and maybe one above average starter (and even that is a stretch), the Tigers have averaged just above four runs per game and are 4-5 during this time.

As for the Red Sox, they are starting to finally heat up. They have put up 50 runs in their last ten games and have gone 7-3 during this stretch, which was against the likes of the Tigers, Rays, Orioles and Phillies, all four above average baseball teams. They also posted those 50 runs against Verlander, Fister, Hellickson, Price, Cobb, Arrieta, Matusz, Hunter, Lee and Blanton.

The Tigers not only go with a rookie in Fenway here but also must figure things out against a left-hander, an area they have hit almost 40 points worse against this season. Take Boston here in this one.

Burns' 3-Game BLOWOUT PASS!
Ben Burns won his lone baseball play yesterday but took it on the chin on the hardwood. Needless to say, Burns isn't too happy about it. He takes out his anger on the books w/ this 3-GAME BLOWOUT PASS, a trio of favorites (2 mid-sized, 1 large) all of which Burns belives have the potential to WIN BIG. Break out those brooms!
