UNDER 9 Pittsburgh/New York Mets:
This has been quite an interesting series thus far. Pittsburgh took the first two games of the four game set, including a 3-1 win Tuesday as Zach Duke outdueled Johan Santana in a brilliant performance. Expect another low scoring affair today in the make up for last night’s rain out at PNC Park as Mike Pelfrey (4-1, 3.88 ERA) opposes Ross Ohlendorf (5-5, 4.45). Both pitchers have been pitching really well of late, and the runs should be hard to come by this afternoon. New York expects to be without Carlos Beltran who is battling a stomach virus. They’ve been playing without Jose Reyes and Carlos Delgado, both who have been on the DL. Pelfrey has been pitching well, despite not having the record to show for it. He’s allowed 2 runs or fewer in each of his last 4 starts, but the Mets have not been able to get him a win. Should be a hard fought, low scoring game today in Pittsburgh

OVER 7 St Louis/Cincinnati:
Good matchup tonight at Busch Stadium between the Reds and Cards, who have split the first two games in this series. Both teams are in contention in the NL Central, with St Louis 1 game back, and the Reds only 2.5 games behind divsion leading Milwaukee. Chris Carpenter goes to the mound for the Cards. Carp has been brilliant since his return from the DL. He’s 3-0 with a 0.62 ERA. He did give up 2 runs in his last start, May 30 at San Fran. So why do we like the over? Well, Cincinnati starter Aaron Harang has been really on the skids of late, bottoming out last Saturday in Milwaukee when he allowed 8 runs in just 4 1/3 innings. He’s 5-5 with a 4.19 ERA for the season, but has imploded in his last few starts. We figure St Louis is good for at least 6 runs and Cincy should be able to get a few across despite Carpenter’s brilliance.
