Free Sports Picks, MLB Baseball Picks June 22nd, 2008Cincinnati Reds @ New York Yankees u9.0 (105) - Sun Jun 22 ‘08 1:05p - Courtesy of LT Profits
Both Andy Pettitte of the New York Yankees and Johnny Cueto of the Cincinnati Reds have been Under-prone this season, and we look for that to continue today. Pettitte is not nearly the pitcher he used to be, as he is 7-5 with a 4.29 ERA this year, but the Under is still a lucrative 11-4 in all of his starts. In all fairness, he does have five Quality Starts in his last seven outings, and one of his non-quality efforts vs. Kansas City where he allowed 10 earned runs has skewed his numbers somewhat. Now Cueto has a 5.19 ERA overall, but he has pitched much better than that lately, allowing three earned runs or less in six of his last seven starts. This youngster will only get better with more seasoning, and along with league ERA leader Edison Volquez, should give the Reds a formidable one-two punch at the top of the rotation for many years. The young Cincinnati pitchers have gotten the best of the Bronx Bombers in the first two games of this series, and we look for another low scoring game today. MLB Free Pick: Reds, Yankees Under 9 (+105)
Houston Astros @ Tampa Bay Rays u8.0 (-110) - Sun Jun 22 ‘08 1:40p - Courtesy of LT Profits
The Tampa Bay Rays and the Houston Astros have exchanged 4-3 victories in the first two games of this series, and we are looking for yet another Under here today. Scott Kazmir has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, as he is 6-2 with a microscopic 1.76 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He has yet to allow more than three earned runs in any start this season, and he has been absolutely sensational in five home starts, posting a sensational 0.59 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 30.2 home innings! The Under is 4-1 in those five home starts. Now granted, Brandon Backe is nothing special for the Astros, but if Kazmir is on top of his game, it may not matter in terms of the Under as we do not expect the Rays to go Over this total by themselves. Besides, Tampa Bay is batting just a modest .240 vs. right-handed pitching over their last 10 games, so Backe is actually capable enough to put up a nice outing here. Look for the third straight well-pitched game in this series this afternoon. MLB Free Pick: Astros, Rays Under 8 (-110)
Florida Marlins @ Oakland Athletics u8.0 - Sun Jun 22 ‘08 4:05p - Courtesy of Alex Smart
Justin Duchsherer (7-4,2.08 ERA) has looked very good this season, and is currently in top form after a 1 run 5 hit performance last time out, against Arizona, that netted him his 4th win in his L5 outings. Meanwhile, his pitching opponent from the Marlins, Andrew Miller (5-5,4.87 ERA), is also rounding into high gear, after consecutive quality starts. Thats not a good omen for an As batting order that is hitting just .242 for the season against LHP while producing a lowly 3.5 RPG. Bottom line: We have two pitchers that are in a positive groove on the hill today, and two viable bull pens backing them up, in a contest has a good chance of staying on the low side of the number. I know Florida has seen a lot of their contests eclipse the number this season, but today in pitcher friendly McAfee Coliseum, Im betting that wont be the case. Final notes & Key Trends: Oakland has gone under 18 of 25 games against left handed starters this season, with the average combined score clicking in at 6.7 RPG. Play UNDER
