Tue January 22 ’08 9:00p

Thad Mattas Ohio State Buckeyes enter into this tilt against Big 10 rivals Illinois off 3 consecutive losses(all on the road). Needless to say the Buckeyes will be very happy and ready to get back in the win column in the friendly confines of the Value City Arena tonight against a team they easily beat 74-58 as visitors earlier this month. Final notes & Key Trends: Ohio State is 7-0 ATS L/7 at home in this series. Illinois has lost 3 straight conference road games. Play on Ohio State

Toledo +5.5 (-110)
Tue January 22 ’08 7:00p

The Toledo Rockets have been a bad road team in recent years, but the Eastern Michigan Eagles are weak favorites, and this is a rare road site where Toledo has actually had some success. The Rockets may be just 5-11 straight up including 0-10 on the road, but they are a more respectable 7-7 against the spread overall and 4-5 ATS on the road. More importantly, Toledo has a six-game winning streak in the head-to-head series with EMU, with two of those wins coming in this building. The Rockets won rather handily 66-56 here last season. Eastern Michigan is just 6-10 overall including 3-3 at home, making them vulnerable giving this many points. They are outscoring their home opponents by a scant +1.5 points per game, not nearly enough to cover this spot, and they have been very erratic offensively while shooting just 41.4 percent from the field. The bottom line here is as bad as Toledo has been on the road, we simply do not trust Eastern Michigan as a favorite and we would not be shocked if the Rockets post there first road win of the year tonight. CBB Free Pick: Toledo +5.5

Milwaukee Bucks +8.0 (-110)
Tue January 22 ’08 8:05p
The first game on tonight’s small slate of NBA action finds the red-hot Phoenix Suns squaring off against the Milwaukee Bucks. There’s a stark contrast in records here as the Suns are one of the best shows the NBA has to offer, while the Bucks seemingly haven’t been taken serious since the Jack Sikma days. Moving on, Phoenix to date has notched 29 victories and only 12 losses, but they haven’t been very kind to their betting supporters only cashing their tickets in 18 of their 41 overall games this season (18-22-1 ATS). As for the Bucks, they own a better mark ATS (19-21) this season than SU (16-24).

Besides winning 4 of 5 games in early January, nothing has seemingly gone right for the Bucks of late. They come into this contest on a 2-game losing streak and they’ve lost 5 of their L/6 SU. Their last time out saw them get railroaded at New Orleans to the tune of a 14-point loss. However, they boast a solid 11-6 SU mark at home so they’ll more than likely give the Suns a test in this spot.

The Suns opened up as 8-point road favorites with a lofty ‘Total’ of 215 for this contest. The Suns are a combined 18-20 ATS (47%) on the road vs. sub .500 Eastern Conference opponents, while the Bucks ring in at 14-15 ATS (48%) at home vs. +.500 Western Conference opponents. The Suns have owned the Bucks the L/10 times they’ve met winning 9 of the 10 match-ups Su, but the Bucks have taken home the cash going 5-4-1 ATS. The underdog is a stellar 10-1-1 ATS their L/12 meetings, and the L/8 meetings have seen the Over go 7-1 ATS. I’m looking for the Bucks to continue their strong play at home in this spot, an dstay within the lofty number tagged on the Suns’ back.
