The 23rd-ranked Southern Miss Golden Eagles (10-2 SU, 7-4-1 ATS, 5-7 O/U) will be the next team that get s a chance at trying to slow down the downright explosive sixth-ranked Houston Cougars (12-0 SU, 10-2 ATS, 7-5 O/U) and ruin their undefeated season when the two rivals meet at John O’Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium in the Conference USA Championship Game. Southern Miss bounced back from a loss in its previous game to rout Memphis in its 44-7 home win but played out as a Push against the high spread as a 37-point home favorite to fall to 0-2-1 ATS over its last three games. Houston remained unbeaten this season by laying a 48-16 smackdown on Tulsa to cash in as a strangely low 1-point road favorite to move to a perfect 7-0 ATS over their last seven games.

Analysis: While both teams in this Conference USA title game average a nearly identical 20.0 points per game, the Houston Cougars and their No. 1 offense have absolutely no peers as they put up an unheard of 613.2 yards – and 52.7 points per game this season. Quarterback Case Keenum is having a Heisman Trophy type of season even if a lot of folks don’t want to give him credit for playing in a conference that may not be the strongest in the country. Keenum has thrown an incredible 43 touchdowns – while tossing just three interceptions and I just don’t see the Cougars falling apart when they’re on the cusp of finishing with an unbeaten campaign, no matter where they finish in the national rankings. Call me crazy, but I’d love to see how Keenum and the Cougars’ offense fairs against No.1 LSU or No. 2 Alabama, two teams I think they’d stand at least a legitimate shot of beating, thanks to their unrivaled offense. Play Keenum and the explosive Cougars to win and cash in!
