The Big East’s bubble has gotten a heck of a lot more interesting in these last few weeks, and it will get even more intriguing on Sunday afternoon in Hartford, where the Louisville Cardinals (18-10, 8-15 ATS) will duke it out with the Connecticut Huskies (17-11, 12-14 ATS) in a college basketball betting battle. The Cards lost by ten at home to Georgetown midweek, but three straight wins before it probably put them on the inside of the bubble right now. Connecticut is almost certainly one of the last four teams either in or out right now, but three straight victories have gotten it into that position yet again after spending weeks on the outside of the tournament.

Since putting up a donut against St. John’s on February 11th, G Edgar Sosa has played like a man possessed. He scored 24 points against Georgetown in one of his best games of the season. In that stretch of four games, Sosa has scored an average of 15.3 points per game. The Louisville offense has put up 77.6 points per game this season, so the 60 point output against the Hoyas was certainly unexpected. However, the Cardinals haven’t reached 70 points in four of their L/5.

This is the final home game for the Huskies on the season. All three of these final efforts will come against fellow bubble dwellers, and one would like to think that they need at least two to three more wins to feel like they’re in good shape for the dance. Since HC Jim Calhoun referred to his team as “embarrassing” in a 60-48 loss to Cincinnati, UConn has averaged 77.7 points per game. That’s a significant step up from the 71.9 points per game that the Huskies are averaging for the ’09-’10 campaign.

These two teams may be set to engage in battle on the final day of the month, but they started off the month by matching wits at Freedom Hall. Louisville won 82-69 that day and will be searching for the series sweep. The Cards have covered the college basketball betting line in four of the L/6 meetings between these teams (4-1-1 ATS).
