If the Michigan State Spartans (21-7, 10-17 ATS) still have aspirations of getting back up towards the #1 line in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, they had better find a way to spring the college basketball betting upset in West Lafayette against the Purdue Boilermakers (24-3, 12-14-1 ATS), who probably sit on the top line right now. The Spartans are coming off of a bad home loss to Ohio State, which was their fourth loss in their L/6 games. Purdue has won ten in a row after that three-game skid, which was its only real bad stretch of the season. The win at Minnesota on Wednesday kept the Boilermakers as a #1 seed should the dance start today.

Michigan State is dominating the glass this season, outrebounding its opponents by nine boards per game. At times, that’s the only thing keeping HC Tom Izzo’s crew afloat. The offense for the Spartans has been anemic in relation to their 74.0 points per game of late. They haven’t reached that point total since January 30th, and since then, they’ve only put up 65.0 points per game. G Kalin Lucas has really only had one solid game since his injury, and that came against Penn State (24 points). Aside from that, has hasn’t reached his scoring average of 15.4 points per game.

The Boilermakers will have to figure out how to make it the rest of the season without F Robbie Hummel, who was lost for the season in that victory against the Golden Gophers. Hummel was the second highest scorer on the team at 15.7 points per game, and he was also the second best rebounder at 6.9 per game. Now, G E’Twaun Moore and F JaJuan Johnson have to pick up the slack. Those two have the ability to carry this team, as they’re combining to average 32.0 points per game. However, any time such a big percentage of your offense is lost, it will certainly require a ton of adjustments.

It was a bit of a surprise, but back on February 9th, Purdue went into East Lansing and bounced the Spartans 76-64. That was the first time that the road team had won in this series since 2005. However, the Boilermakers’ cover marked their sixth NCAA basketball betting victory in the L/7 games against Michigan State.
