NHL Picks: Vancouver Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators Odds: November 11th 2010
These teams have a history of playing low-scoring games against each other. The most recent meeting did sneak ‘over’ the total, a 5-1 Vancouver victory, last spring. However, even including that result, the ‘under’ is still a lucrative 11-4-1 the last 16 meetings in this series. That includes a 6-1 mark to the ‘under’ the last seven here at Ottawa. Those numbers have a solid shot at improving here.
With a superstar starting goalie and a backup who’s playing at an outstanding level, the Canucks have allowed three or fewer goals in seven of their last eight games. Three of their last four road games have fallen below the total, most recently a 2-0 loss at Montreal. For the season, their road games are averaging 5.1 combined goals.
The Senators are off a high-scoring (5-2) victory in their last game, their fourth straight win. However, that was against a defensively-challenged Atlanta team. Also, note that prior to facing the Thrashers, the ‘under’ was 4-0 their previous four games. Additionally, note that the ‘under’ is 31-19 (excluding ‘pushes’) the last 50 times that the Sens scored four or more goals in their previous game and 18-7 when they were off three or more consecutive victories.
