Odds to win 2012 NHL Stanley Cup
It doesn’t matter whether you’re going for a one-on-one breakaway or whether you’re going for the ‘big blast’ one-timer from the blue line, NHL ice hockey gamblers everywhere will get the insight they’ll need in order to make a potentially-winning NHL Futures Odds wager on the winner of this season’s Stanley Cup Trophy.
That’s right hockey lovers, it doesn’t matter whether you like one of the top-notch favorites on the board or whether you’re looking to cash in with a slightly lesser, but higher paying, underdog. This comprehensive betting breakdown on the odds to win the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Trophy, will help hockey gamblers everywhere narrow their selections on the fun-filled – and extremely value-laden, NHL Stanley Cup Futures Odds.
Okay, with that thought in mind, we’ve put each team in a specific grouping, based on how they’ve played so far this season and the realistic chances they have of winning it all.
The Favorites
Detroit 10/1
N.Y. Rangers 30/1
Pittsburgh 7/1
Vancouver 9/1
Philadelphia 10/1
San Jose 12/1
Boston 15/1
Analysis: All of the seven teams in this grouping of ‘favorites’ will have a legitimate chance to hoist this season’s Stanley Cup Trophy. While some elite teams’ chances are better than others, the reality is that none of these teams should be counted out.

At 10/1, the Detroit Red Wings are a near, must-bet selection at this point. The Red Wings have won an NHL record, 21 consecutive games at home while scoring a league-high 18 goals at the time of this writing.
The New York Rangers are suddenly looking like they could come out of the Eastern Conference with their special blend of size, speed, power and finesse. At a mind-numbing 30/1, backing the Rangers in this NHL Futures Odds wager is a must!
The remaining five teams on this list will also have very legitimate chances to win it all, including the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins, who are looking pretty attractive at 15/, unless you think Tim Thomas’ political foolishness will cost the team that is.
At this point, it looks like NHL gamblers can almost expect either San Jose or Vancouver to meet Detroit in the Western Conference Finals.
Legitimate Title Contenders
Washington 6/1
Nashville 40/1
St. Louis 45/1
Los Angeles 10/1
Calgary 60/1
Analysis: You might like one of the aforementioned ‘cream of the crop’ teams on the board, but the fact of the matter is that all five of these ‘legitimate title contending’ teams could manage to upset the entire playoff apple cart!
Calgary, L.A., St. Louis and Washington are all currently in second place in their respective divisions with Nashville in third place in the Central Division, just three points behind the Blues. In the case of the Blues (+4500) and Predators (+4000), both teams are nipping at the Red Wings’ heels with 34 and 33 wins respectively. Either team, with their stunning NHL Futures Odds, look like solid wagers, if you like underdogs.
It Could Happen!
Chicago 6/1
New Jersey 35/1
Colorado 50/1
Phoenix 85/1
Ottawa 150/1
Florida 125/1
Analysis: Every team in this ‘It Could Happen’ category is either in third or fourth place in their respective divisions except for Ottawa, (second in the Northeast Division) and Florida, which is in first place in the Southeast Division. If you like the Senators, who were expected to contend for the title this season, take comfort in the fact that center is second in the league in scoring with 63 points.
You may also want to know that, despite being in first place in their division, the Florida Panthers have been outscored by 15 goals on the season. Also, while New Jersey is in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, the Devils’ 32 wins would have them winning two divisions while coming in second in two others, so don’t count out New Jersey just yet.
It’s A Long Shot!
Buffalo 10/1
Anaheim 20/1
Tampa Bay 20/1
Toronto 35/1
Montreal 40/1
Dallas 40/1
Carolina 45/1
Minnesota 60/1
N.Y. Islanders 80/1
Winnipeg 85/1
Edmonton 50/1
Analysis: These teams are real long shots, but at least, in the NHL, even long shots have a respectable chance to pull off a postseason upset or two. Toronto (29-23), Dallas (28-25) and Minnesota (25-23) all have winning records at this point – and some seriously bankroll-boosting NHL Futures Odds should any of the trio manage to win it all.
No Way Jose!
Columbus 150/1
Analysis: The Columbus Blue Jackets are an absolute mess and the only team on this list of teams that have absolutely no shot of cashing in on this thrilling, season-long NHL Futures Odds wager.
