The Blues won yesterday’s game by a score of 4-3. That was a little fortunate as they were outshot 34-23. Note that the Wings are still 56-30 against the Blues over the past decade. While the Blues figure to be improved this season – the Wings should be able to bounce back this afternoon.

While the Blues are listed as the home team, with the game being played at Sweden, the Red Wings most certainly have the support of the fans. That’s because they’ve got eight Swedes on their roster. That may have been a bit of a distraction at first, as the Swedes would have been visiting friends and family. However, with many of those same friends and family in the stands, the Wings’ Swedish contingent should be highly motivated to avoid getting “swept.”

The Blues were 18-34 (-15.9) the last two seasons, after scoring four or more goals in their previous game. During the same stretch, the Wings were 34-18 (+3.4) after allowing four or more goals in their previous game.

Last year’s teams that played here (Pens/Sens) split their opening two games and I expect that to be the case here again. Consider laying the wood with the Wings.
