Do not expect much offense when the St. Louis Rams visit the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.

After all, the Rams have scored a whopping total of 24 points in three games, and as if that is not bad enough, backup quarterback Kyle Boller gets the start today for the injured Marc Bulger. Boller completed just slightly more than half of his passes last week (16 for 31) vs. the Green Bay Packers, and he now must throw against a good San Francisco pass defense that is allowing only 5.8 yards per pass attempt.

Now the Rams do have Steven Jackson in the backfield, but the 49rrs run defense has also been stingy against the run, allowing just 3.0 yards per rush, and their game plan will no doubt be to key on Jackson and dare Boller to challenge their cornerbacks.

Speaking of injuries, the Niners suffered a big one themselves in Frank Gore, and we do not trust quarterback Shaun Hill to generate many points either without the help of a good running game. Hill has a nice 63.5 percent completion percentage, but the fact that he is averaging 6.68 yards per attempt suggests that he has not taken many shots downfield.

From a technical standpoint, the Under is 12-4 in the last 16 Rams games on grass, and given the circumstances here, we look for that record to improve today.
