The seventh-ranked Utah Utes take on the fourth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the 75th annual Sugar Bowl on January 2nd 2009. The Crimson Tide have the most bowl wins of any team with a 31-21-3 overall record. Last year Alabama played in the Independence Bowl for the second straight year and won against Colorado with a 30-24 final score, giving the team two bowl wins in the last three bowl showings. As for Utah, who are facing Alabama for the first-time ever, their bowl history goes all the way back to a 26-0 victory against New Mexico in the 1939 Sun Bowl and continued with a 35-32 win over Navy in last year’s Poinsettia Bowl. Utah, is now 10-4 in bowl games and has won seven straight in post-season appearances, going all the way back to the 1999 Las Vegas Bowl.
