San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
NBA Pick: Minnesota +1 (January 27th 2012)

While the Spurs have been better on the road, we still think it is a bit too early for them to be legitimate road favorites after stumbling to a 2-6 record on the road this season. Since a strong start last season on the road this team has regressed and has now dropped 13 of their last 16 road games ATS. We think they are in for another tough game tonight against a very scrappy Minnesota team that has lots of young talent. This T-Wolves team always seems to get up for big games. They got big road wins in recent games against the Mavs and Clippers and they also hung tight with Oklahoma City and Miami earlier this season. They also have home wins against the Mavs and they also beat this same Spurs team, with Manu Ginobili in the lineup, on this same court by double digits. While the Spurs are the better team on paper, this team seems to play down to its competition on the road. Even in their two road wins they barely won. Last time out against a New Orleans team in major rebuilding mode they won by only two and they needed OT to get by an Orlando team that was playing its third game in three nights. We expect this Minnesota team to take care of business tonight and get the win. This team seems to have something to prove and they have some current and future all stars on the team that seem to really get up to play top teams. Also, Minnesota has covered four of the last five meetings in this series and we think that trend will continue on Friday. Doc’s Sports Free Pick: Southern Miss -3.5
Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #771 Take Southern Miss over East Carolina (7 pm) The Eagles are having an outstanding season and are on pace for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. They are currently 4-1 in Conference USA and they are facing a winless conference team in ECU. The line is low since the Pirates played well in the first meeting, losing by just two points. This game is at Williams Arena but Southern Miss is 7-3 in road/neutral site games this season. The Golden Eagles have five players with double-digit scoring averages and that balance will be too much for the Pirates to overcome. Southern Miss is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. East Carolina is 20-43-2 ATS in their last 65 home games. Do not miss Doc’s Sports Wednesday card featuring strong picks in college basketball and the NBA. Doc’s Sports Free Pick: Clippers vs. Lakers Over 186.5
These teams have a history of playing over the total as all three of their most recent meetings went over the posted number. While the Lakers are a strong defensive team, especially at home, this Clippers squad is on offensive club and they will definitely feel comfortable in these surroundings as the road team as this is their home court as well. This is also a team that hasn’t jelled together on defense and that part of their game is still a work in progress. When the two teams met earlier in the month, the pace was pretty fluid the whole game. Even with an 18-point stinker of a second quarter from the Lakers, the combined score sailed well over the posted number. We just think that the winning team here will get to the high 90s and that the loser will not be far behind. The Clippers also should get Chris Paul back tonight and that will only help their offense and allow them to throw a lot of different looks at them with Mo Williams coming off the bench. -Doc’s sports basketball picks

Week 7 NFL Picks: Chicago Bears vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: October 23rd 2011

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #112 Take Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Chicago Bears (Sunday 1 pm Fox) A former NFC Central match-up takes place on Sunday when the Chicago Bears head east to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London. This is an important game for both teams since they are in strong divisions, but we will side with the home team (technically speaking). I expect the Buccaneers to put pressure on QB Jay Cutler, as this was something that the Vikings did not do last Sunday. A really like the progress that QB Josh Freeman has been making and he now has the ability to beat you with his arm in addition to his legs. Chicago is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. Tampa Bay is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as an underdog. Getting a point is too good to pass-up in this game, as Tampa Bay wins this battle in England. Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #113 Take Philadelphia Eagles over Washington Redskins (Sunday 1 pm Fox) The Eagles have been by far and away the most disappointing team in 2011 but this is the first time we are getting some value with them with regards to the point spread. The Redskins sit atop the NFC East and a win this game will all but knock out the Eagles with regards to a division title. The visitor has dominated this series covering 8 of the last 9 match-ups. In the last meeting, the Eagles won 59-28 and that alone shows me how much more talent Philadelphia has compared to Washington. The Eagles are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games against teams with a winning home record. The Redskins are 9-17 ATS (3 pushes) against teams with a losing record. The Eagles are too good of a team and have too good of a head coach to see their season fall apart. They need this game and they get it in a big way as we collect in the process as well. Rice vs. Texas Prediction: College Football Picks for September 3rd 2011

August 31st, 2011

Rice vs. Texas
Prediction: Texas -24 (September 3rd 2011)

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #80 Take Texas over Rice (Saturday 8 pm Longhorn network) This will be a game most of the country will not be able to watch, as the Longhorn network kicks off with an in-state battle between the Rice Owls and the Texas Longhorns. Texas is coming off a terrible season in 2010 when they did not even qualify for a bowl game. Coach Brown knows that he needs to make a statement in this game and Rice is the perfect opponent to do that against. Rice is just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against Big XII opponents. Texas is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against Conference USA opponents. Both of these trends hold true tonight, as Texas runs it up on the Longhorn Network. NFL Preseason Picks: Bengals vs. Jets Point Spread: August 21st 2011

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets
Preseason Pick: Cincinnati Bengals +6.5 -115 point spread (August 21st 2011)
Visit Touthouse.com for more NFL preseason picks from Doc’s Sports

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #427 Take Cincinnati over New York (Sunday 7 pm) This is just too many points to be laying in a preseason game and we will side with the Bengals tonight at New Meadowlands Stadium. Without Carson Palmer, the Bengals have a bad group of quarterbacks and that was evident by the fact they score just 3 points in Week 1 against the Lions. When teams play that bad in the preseason and get embarrassed, they usually play much better in the following week. We hope that will be the case tonight, as neither team reaches the twenties and getting this many points is too good to pass up. New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Odds & Pick: July 5th 2011

July 5th, 2011

New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Pick: New York Mets +117 odds (July 5th 2011)
Visit Touthouse.com for more expert MLB picks from Doc’s Sports

Doc’s Sports COMP Pick: Tuesday July 5th 2011: Take #913 New York Mets over LA Dodgers (10:10pm est): Once again in no way should the Los Angeles Dodgers be favored and favored in this price range against most any team in baseball. The Dodgers are a bottom of the barrel team right now only ahead of the awful Astros, Royals and Cubs for the worst record in baseball. They go with Ted Lilly in this one as Lilly tries to avoid losing his fourth straight game and he does so coming into this game not 100%, with a tender elbow situation and was pushed back an extra day for this start tonight. He looked very bad in his last outing, striking out no one in almost five innings of work.

The Mets continue to play decent baseball as they climbed over the .500 mark last evening with a win. There is a chance they could be getting National League leading hitter Jose Reyes back from injury in this one. Even without Reyes in the lineup last night the Mets managed to stay hot with the bats scoring five runs in the contest. This is a team really swinging the bats well of late as they top the Major Leagues over their past nine game by averaging over seven runs per game during that time. They also sport an above .500 record on the road this year and have won five of their last six away from home and 16 of their last 23 as an underdog.

The Mets seem to be undervalued for quite a while now and getting them at this price tonight against the lowly Dodgers is a gift. Take New York here. -Doc’s Sports
