The Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS, 5-1 O/U) have lost two straight games, including its heartbreaking 41-34 loss to Kansas State as a 3.5-point home favorite in Week 7. Unfortunately, the Red Raiders now get the unenviable task of trying to stop the third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (6-0 SU, 4-2 ATS, 3-3 O/U) in this Big 12 showdown. Oklahoma cruised to an easy 47-17 blowout over Kansas on Saturday, but narrowly failed to cash in for college football bettors as an enormous 37-point road favorite to snap its modest two-game ATS winning streak. While Texas Tech junior quarterback Seth Doege is having an absolutely stellar season,, having completed a whopping 70.7 percent of his passes with 18 TDs and just four interceptions, the Red Raiders have been a mess on defense, allowing a whopping 29.5 points per game defensively, more than two touchdowns over the 15.8 points per contest the Sooners give up defensively.
Analysis: Still, the Red Raiders can score the ball with any team in the country and I suspect that ability to put points on the board will help them cover the insanely high point spread in this matchup. These two Big 12 schools have alternated SU wins and losses over the L/6 meetings with Oklahoma rolling to a 45-7 win just last season. Nevertheless, I like the Red Raiders to keep the final score a lot closer than expected, mostly because they average less than two points per contest defensively than the Sooners. The Red Raiders are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games as an underdog of more than 10.5 points and I believe they’ve got a bit too much offense to not cover this huge point spread!
