The fifth-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies (11-1-0 SU, 4-8 ATS, 4-7-1 O/U) have seven straight games coming into this ACC Championship Game showdown against the struggling 20th-ranked Clemson Tigers (9-3 SU, 7-5 ATS, 6-6 O/U), losers of two straight and three of their last four games overall. Virginia Tech is coming off a masterful 38-0 shutout over Virginia to easily cash in against the college football betting line as a 4.5-point road favorite and move to 2-1 ATS over their last three games. Clemson looked mostly abysmal in suffering a discouraging 34-13 loss to South Carolina while failing to cover the spread as a 3.5-point road dog to fall to 0-4 ATS over their L/4 games.

Analysis: From the looks of this matchup, it’s pretty clear that the Clemson Tigers are facing an uphill battle in not only winning this game, but covering the college football betting line. Virginia Tech is 4-0 ATS in its last four games in the month of December and a consistent 4-1 ATS in their/5 games as a favorite between 3.5 and 10.0 points. Clemson is 1-6 ATS in its last seven neutral site games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an SU or ATS loss. More importantly, the Tigers have been held to a disappointing 13 points in each of their last two games while not topping 17 points in three of their last four overall. Virginia Tech has picked up a lot of steam lately and I just don’t see them failing to beat Clemson – or cover the NCAAF betting odds in this ACC title game matchup.
